I currently have a

- Gameness A2 (tight in the lat and arm region probably shrunk it too much good for competition but not great for summer)

- HCK A4 or A3 it is very big and thick (not great for summer and competition)

- Padilla and Sons black A2 (great fit and feel don't know if its durable enough for competition nice for summer)

- Some Judo gi (crap haha was like 30 bucks though my frist gi)

so can anyone recommend me a gi im like 5"9 and 180-185 - I'm thinking about getting a summer Vulkan because i hear they hold up well and are nice and light - Thanks for your help

Check out (for summer gis) Vulkan, Koral, Gameness Pearl, Ouano Pearl, Atama Summer Weaves.

if you need room and the are muscular or stocky go with a quality judo gi

they make good jiu jitsu gis for those who are stocky. the sleeves will be shorter and will still pass gi checks

get a judo gi then, since theres more room

My build is pretty much the same as yours.

Whatever you wind up buying, I find that it's more important to buy for WEIGHT rather than height. You can always get pants hemmed, but if gi is too tight there's nothing you can do.

Good point. I have monster thighs and have problems with mobility in most of my casual pants and jeans. I'm buying a gi for the first time, and I don't want to have the same problem with gi pants.

How big are your thighs? I ask because I have petty big thighs too and it is always nice to know people that have a similar build so you can bounce ideas off each other as to what fits and what doesn't. Mine are about 29"-30" right now and have been as big as 32" when I was lifting.

About the same size as you, 30". I also have a big ol' booty, so that doesn't help my mobility in pants at all when I buy for my waist size.

I'm 5'8'', 200lb. My A3 Ouano and A3 Gameness Platinum both fit me perfect (except for the pants..they are too big for my waist). You can always dryer shrink the gi's to fit but if you buy them to small, there is nothing you can do.

koral, vulkan and Isami would work pretty well for your body structure.

I have a new Padilla & Sons lightweight (A2), and two gold weave (A3). When I bought the gold weave (A3) I weighed 200 lbs. I'm 5'7". I'm currently 180lbs. so the (A2) fits me better. Hope that helps with your sizing.
