This is illegal in competition afaik, but new guys at my gym tend to do this pretty often when spazzing out. They pull on the back of my collar until it's over my face then hug. The result is similar to having a plastic bag over my face, I can't breathe.

What should I do about this?

Also, the same guys, they are usually 17-18, start freaking out when you grapple and use shitty technique and try to power through everything. Obviously they get swept and mounted over and over but they never seem to run out of steam and keep bucking and spazzing out. It's hard to pin any subs on these guys as they flop like a fucking dolphin the whole 7 minutes. lol. Any tips for subbing younger guys with unlimited cardio?

Why sub them? Take the opportunity to work on your top control game.

If they are determined to spaz out, punish them with knee-rides, really hard crossfaces, Shoulder of Justice....y

Once they pull the gi over the face, then just say stop and re-ajust the gi so you can see.

For spazzers: you just need to hold on your position before submission. You are better off getting a good position (points) instead of attempting a submission and losing the position in the scramble.

slow the game down. make it sooooo slow, barely make any transitions, really, they're beginners they have no clue how to get out of mount. all you gotta do is stall.

then. when they finally decide to ask "why the fuck can't i get out of this" you tell them what jiu jitsu really is about. eventually, if they get frustrated enough, they'll ask.

Thats what I do and it helps my mount and my ability to get my balance back. No noob can buck for more then a minute, unless there a wrestler without burning out

Well the noobs I am referring to played highschool sports like football, wrestiling, cross country running, two or more. lol. Fuckers buck and bench press for 7 minutes straight and usually kick you in the balls in the process. haha. Well I guess I will just go with it, use control techniques and keep dominant position.

What happens when you get your GI pulled over your face in competition? Do you yell stop or wait for the ref to figure out wtf is going on?

In competition, you do not yell stop unless you get submitted.

It is the role of the coach to scream at the ref that you cannot see.

Really? I think it's actually very easy to tap someone who's flailing. If someone isn't in control of their limbs, their limbs will get locked. If you can't, your technique needs work.

How do you manage to sit still long enough for them to Untuck your gi enough from your belt, and then work it up over the back of your head?

This reminds me of Royce Gracie vs. Sakuraba 1 :D
I enjoyed that.

jesus christ if somebody did that to me I'd be phuckin pissed off.
definitely demand that they stop when they do it.
and if they don't, GuitarGod's recommendation doesn't sound too bad

It never happened to me. I guess it would piss me off.

Okay a couple of points to make here.

ONE: You sound like you are just as new to bjj as they are. What to do when they pull your gi over your head? Tell them not to and fix it.

TWO: Why would you want to sub these guys, worry about teaching them positions, how to escape, advance, how to get their arm/hand positions in each position. Then teach them a couple submissions and defenses.

And you can't sub them? really? You must be horrible on the ground.

How long have you been training 1 or 2 months?

I wanna see a video of you rolling with the spazzes, I have a feeling you're a spaz yourself.

Ezekiel choke is a charm against people using their arms to try and push you off instead of using them to protect their neck

I was rolling with a guy the other day and he was thrashing a bit, his gi ended up over his head and I locked a triangle in with it like that. In competion it would be stopped but in teh middle of a submission I'm not sure if it would..anyone?
