Just stumbled upon this. Carlin going to town on the fascist liberals that are all the rage now and their insistence that you follow their rules or get fired and degraded to a non person whose opinion does not matter.



Growing up listening to DK and punk music, freedom of speech has always been close to my heart. I see this PC liberal shit as just a way to control us, to tell us what we can and cannot do. They are the book burners, the witch hunters, the new mccarthyans. Fuck them.

PC is newest form of intolerance. It comes disguised as tolerance. It presents itself as fairness yet attempts to control and restrict language with rules and codes.
Not sure this is the way to fight discrimination.
Forcing people to alter their speech is not the best way to solve problems that go much deeper than speech.
Liberal rule makers decide to rename a group of people they view as victims they begin by imparting shame to the group's existing name and they give them a new name to make them feel better. Hey, we can't fix you but we will give you a more positive name.

One of the environments that gets too twisted up by political correctness is the corporate environment. Just as the bill of rights evolved to affect state behavior, I hope that some day it evolves to affect corporate behavior. We have given up too much authority to them, and a whole lot of liberals (and conservatives, but we're talking about the left mostly) love to stamp their feet about the "private" exception to free speech, and they do so more loudly as the public parts of our lives become more and more beholden to the private ones. It's really damaging free expression in America in the long run I think, even though it has the benefit of stamping out bigotry. Carlin fails to excuse the left here when I think he should. He's supposed to exaggerate- it's the job of the comedian- and I understand why he was also fed up with the college campus scene. But hopefully this climate does what it's intended to do and then cools down. Liberals in their quest for equality often forget that they might oppress others, by fighting off one of their values against another.

If you listen to his bit, it was perfect to use in today's political climate.
