I am a fan but just a few things I noticed against Munoz The good:He looked way more muscular and stronger than before...he was calm and stone cold as always The bad:His wrestling hasn't really improved..he did win..but the way munoz picked him up and slamed him showed that he still needs a lot of work if hopes to ever get a title shot. What I really liked about him is that he is very realistic and self critical regarding himself....and for some reason I'd like to see him against Tim Kenedy.
It has but not enough..and I think that King Mo is better mma wrestler than Munoz...and he has to improve a lot...because if he want's that title he may run into Sonen..Kenedy...and Weidman...but the positive thing is that he knows his weaknes so he's probablly improve in that area.
T.S --- Did u watch Mousasi take Munoz 's back off Td attempt? He made it look easy but Gegard has obviously worked on his wrestling..It may never be a strength but it doesn't have to be... I feel he has the tools to possibly win title- looking forward to his next fight. If Kennedy, I see him handling him. Mousasi-Rockhold is an awesome main event on any card. A true pk'em fight.
He outscrambled Munoz which is a serious feat considering that's his biggest strength.. Judging his wrestling hasn't improved cuz he got slammed once and immediately got back up is kind of... White beltish/trolljob
Not a trolljob..just saying that in todays mma especially higher weight classes wrestling is crucial for beeing a champ..and as for now he still has a lot of work to do As I sad I'm a huge fan but there is no need for hype train and s**t because Munoz isn't elite... Maybe I'm wrong..but I'd rather lokl at things like this than to expect too much and then get dissapointed
This. Maybe Munoz is not that great of an MMA wrestler in technical takedowns, but he's generally very good in scrambles.
I do not get why people are making such a big deal of that "slam" re-watch the fight mark never landed a takedown. Even in that big slam Gegard landed on-top of Munoz. So what is it that Munoz got exacly out of the slam? He was about as likely to hurt him self as he was to hurt Moussasi and he gained no positional advantage. Its like saying a fighter defiantly needs to improve his kick boxing because he nearly got kicked in the head then dominated when he was fighting a highly talented and decorated kicker.
Mousasi and Hypetrain in the same post? wow Mousasi is a top MW top 3 in my book (he is better than belfort imo) edit: at least he deserves his top 10 spot, easily
There are multiple ways to negate wrestling in the cage. Stuffing takedowns seems to be the only thing that matters to some people as far as counterwrestling goes. Good scrambling abilities can be just as effective as Mousasi showed against Munoz.
the slam was meaningless. he reversed immediately. and then he defended every other shot. munoz looked like he had no ground game to speak of against mousasi, and his tds looked poor too for the most part.
