Gary Copeland is an awesome referee

I am very impressed by the way he handled this fight. One warning and then just reduce points everytime the groin strike was thrown. Also very good at explaining to the fighters what was going on, telling him he didnt want him to fight and have a disadvantage because of the groin strikes. This is the way refferees should act, impressive.

Also because he is basically Brock Siver. Or Dennis Lesnar.

I suppose its ok but this type of strict point deductions for groin shots is rarely seen in the ufc leading me to believe that darko wouldve won this fight with any other referee.

If this is the stance UFC wants to have then it should happen across the board.

That first deduction was bullshit. The kick became misaligned because he ate a punch while throwing the kick. It wasn't even a hard kick.

Well since it was unintentional (i presume) i am ok with a first warning. After that the risk is on you, it's a tricky technique. Also they didn't glide of his shorts, the last two were direct hits.

This fight was very fishy. One judge gave Kennedy all 3 rounds. I thought Darko easily won 2 and i guess 1 couldve gone to Kennedy. Even that's a stretch

Totally agree that he handled the situation really well...always was the man in charge, whether it be with both fighters and the doctors, never hesitated for a moment on what he would do next. Nice reffing there.
