Gary D. Cohn, President Trump’s top economic adviser, plans to resign, becoming the latest in a series of high-profile departures from the Trump administration, White House officials said on Tuesday.

The officials insisted there was no single factor behind the departure of Mr. Cohn, who heads the National Economic Council. But his decision to leave came after he seemed poised to lose an internal struggle amid a Wild West-style process over Mr. Trump’s plan to impose large tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

“Gary has been my chief economic adviser and did a superb job in driving our agenda, helping to deliver historic tax cuts and reforms and unleashing the American economy once again,” Mr. Trump said in a statement to The New York Times. “He is a rare talent, and I thank him for his dedicated service to the American people.”

Mr. Cohn is expected to leave in the coming weeks. He will join a string of recent departures by senior White House officials, including Mr. Trump’s communications director and a powerful staff secretary.

Lol..could be,I don’t know?...
The asinine tariff /trade war lord Cheeto is beating his drums about?

What economic advisor on earth would want to be attached to the shit storm this will cause?!

The real question is why the hell anyone would stay

Well, not after the swamp monster helped get the crown jewel of right wing policy passed (tax cuts). Once Trump decided he wanted to pursue nationalists policies that hurt businesses Cohn said fuck this shit.

Amazing. Who knew that everyone would leave your pool when you start filling it with cyanide?

Trump has been so amazing at putting together and keeping staff. It's absolutely historic what he has been able to do with staffing in a little over a year. It's been nothing but a fucking joke, all of it. Hopefully we never see anything this pathetic again.

Tell that to Sarah "I sold my already worthless soul to Trump" Sanders.

Oh wait...maybe the cyanide turned her into a deformed swamp hag? Who knows.

I'll tell you, it's policies like the tariffs where Trump really, really could have benefited from Bannon. Tariffs were pure Steve.

It's too bad Trump didn't come out of the gate after the inauguration with tariffs and the infrastructure investment. He could have potentially created an interesting, cross-aisle coalition.

Mark my words, after this shit blows over she's gonna be out there saying the President was just speaking in hypotheticals when he was talking about tariffs and trade wars. "It was clearly a joke. Only a toddler would take it seriously."

Aren't Republicans (in power) unilaterally against tariffs? I don't think Bannon has influence with them (they all hate the guy).

Yeah, unless he signs the fucking thing into policy. Then she'll talk about how many jobs they'll create, blah blah blah. I'm not even sure why anyone listens to her at all at this point. The communications folks are always fairly pointless to listen to, but in this administration they lie so much it's sad that we even discuss what they say at all.

The alt right, Bannon's bread and butter, is all about economic nationalism.

Peter Navarro has been whispering in his ear the whole time.

Sure, the Trumpsters have hard-ons for this policy but in terms of Senate/House no way. Even Paul Ryan, who has spread his cheeks for Trump the last year and a half has come out against Tariffs and is working to take action to stop it (to the extent they can I'm not sure).

FACT: Trump didn't consult anyone about the tariff shit. Not congress. Not Republicans. (Paul Ryan doesn't want tariffs) No even his lawyers. He simply pushed something into existence like the weekly shit he takes.

The only 2 people left from his original team are Ivanka and Jared. LOL

Yeah, they met and debated it but I agree with you. There is no talking sense into Trump.

All I'm saying is House/Senate Republicans are opposed to it now and for a pleasant change are open about it. I don't think it changes anything and they're still spineless but still.

We have tariffs on things already, it's not always the worst thing in the world, but you got to know how to do them right and use them strategically. Trying to start a trade war is a stupid, stupid, idea, and no economic expert has come out in favor for it yet. I don't think Bannon's vision would have lined up with reality, same problem with Trump's tariffs right now.

Lol yeah I think that's about it. It's amazing Tillerson outlasted them all given he was one of the first with whispers of quitting. And after the "he's a fucking moron" thing I thought for sure he was toast.
