I'm guessing stuff like I'm with Busey was at least partly acting and if he was THAT crazy I think he'd not have carried on getting work for so long but it seems to have gotten worse with time hence his career in larger films really griding to a hault about 15 years ago.

I'm guessing people underestimate his age as well because he only really became a household name in the late 80's having been around as an adult actor since the early 70's, to put it into perspective he's actually 2 years older than Predator 2 co cast Danny Glover at 79.
