Gary Cook told BT SPorts earlier today:

“It will include Istanbul, Dublin, Lodz in Poland - we’re looking at Glasgow – Berlin. The list of requests for this are going to be endless.”

I still find the thought of an event in Turkey odd

Interesting he said Istanbul first, They usually like to have a native fight on their homesoil. Gus Sweden. Mcgregor Dublin etc etc.

There's no turks in the UFC?

Can someone inform of this "fight night expaansion" I keep hearing about? I've been off sherdog past few days.

Are they gonna be purely showcasing local fighters at these shows?

It's kind of like an endurance stretch run through Europe (something like 6 shows in like 8 months or something).

i always wondered why the ufc hasnt been in turkey. that country is the easiest european/middle eastern cross-over country. lotta money over there.

Turkey, interesting choice. Wish they'd focus on trying to break into Russia instead.

You don't bring MMA to Russia. Russia brings MMA to you.

Fight nights, not PPV cards.

So look at the last fight night in Brazil. Maia/Shields, or condit/Kampmann etc.

those kinds of cards. Like in Poland if they can do it they would probably want Mamed vs a Bisping or Munoz or Mousasi at MW. that would be the kind of main event they would do for a Fight night in Poland.

Pretty excited about Istanbul. My dreams of MMA invading every country on earth are slowly if diabolically being fulfilled by the UFC.

As a turk, this gets me fuckin pumped. However i also question the reason of them coming to Istanbul. Mma is completely unkown in Turkey with the exception of maybe a thousand people. There are only a handful of Turks that might be considered hardcore fans but thats about it. Even in the combat sports circles people dont really know mma, or see it as human cockfighting, thinking that someone has to die for a mma match to end lol.

I think ufc saw that Glory 6 did good in istanbul, but thats because kickboxing is pretty known in Turkey and also we have a star in Gokhan Saki. Anyway i aint complaining just find it a bit odd.

Time for UFC to add one of the best flyweights out there.... Alp "The Turkish Delight" Ozkilic

You might recall that Alp was Dominic Cruz's wrestling coach on TUF season. He recently had a brutal KO win over Banuelos in Legacy Fights on AXS TV. Ranked one of the best 125'rs out there not in the UFC
