I have faith in Garbrandt, i know that he is overly relentless sometimes which leaves openins that Almeida could easily capitalize on, but i also believe that Garbrandts wrestling base will be effective against a stand-up striker like Almeida, i'm imagining a situation similar to Pettis-RDA, highly skilled striker that is taking everybody out until he faces somebody who uses wrestling effectively. I haven't watched many of Almeidas fights so i don't know whether he has solid TDD or not. Almeida also leaves openings so my prediction is Garbrandt by TKO/KO in rounds 2-3 after some good brawls/takedowns in rounds 1 & 2 since his chin is questionable after seeing the fight against Pickett knowing that Garbrandt punches as hard if even harder than Pickett.

This is a sleeper fight! Take it from GUERNICA, the greatest damn poster on this damn site, both these guys are very talented and have a lot to offer. I have to go with Almeida because of his explosiveness and ground game. But this is a solid fight! Can't wait!

And now you have a great story to tell your kids. The day GUERNICA graced your thread with his wonderful presence.

You just saved my damn day with your ultra-awesome appearance in my thread. WOW.

I love this matchup; both guys have every reason to be over-confident, especially Almeida. He's 20-0 with 19 finishes and has taken out some very capable fighters. He has it in his head that he's gonna retire undefeated, like Ronda or @Guernica.

I think Almeida gets it done. He has shown durability and deadly KO power from arms and legs. Garbrandt is more conventional, but he's probably more powerful. But he has been cleanly KO'd as an amateur.

Right back at ya!
This is really a great fight too. I'm actually surprised more people aren't talking about it. I guess when the McTapper circus dies down these other guys will get a little shine.

Fine thread. #GUERNICA-approved!

I love this fight
Cant wait to see Cody getting destroyed by Almaida

Think I might join #TeamGuernica while it's still time.

Great Fight....

don't get excited about it til it happens....

u know shit happens...

The Just Bleed God blessed us with this one

Gonna be a great stand up war between two solid prospects and someone's getting KO'd

We usually get behind (no homo) the better looking fighter around here right?

Garbrandt is overrated as hell right now. But Almeida has suspect striking defense. Should be good enough to do his thing though.

Almeida RD2 (T)KO

There's always room at the table!

Also I meant to add that Almeida has shown a crazy chin. If I'm not mistaken he ate a big shot from Brichank before putting him away in the closing seconds of the first. Lots of upside to this guy. Listen to papa-GOAT GUERNICA kids! He knows.

Don't be so sure about Almeida's ground game. We've yet to see much of it, apart from his solid TDD, but he's apparently very good on the ground (wikipedia says he's a Brown Belt), so it isn't really fair to assume he's a pure striker.

Anyway, I got Almeida via KO

It's a great match up. I think Almeida has more striking tools than Garbrandt but Garbrandt also seems to be the more thoughtful striker and understands distance and timing a little better. I'm picking Almeida atm though. Garbrandt has legit skills and potential but I'm not sold on him as a contender seeing as all his wins in the UFC so far are against fighters who are in the bottom echelon of the 135 division.

Almeida has more MMA experience, knocked out a vet in Pickett and has already defeated wrestling oriented fighters like Birchak and Gorman. I know Almeidas chin has been brought into question but by that logic Garbrandt is equally at risk given that he's been knocked before in his amateur career.

Hello, paper GOAT. It is I, the true GOAT.

Almeida has a pretty solid chin, which he showed after eating some nasty shots and a big knee from Pickett, but he never went out. Cody's been brutally KO'd before, so we know it can happen...

Would be funny if PVZ pulled a Ronda and started dating Almeida if he KO'd No Love. Cold blooded.

Garbrandt -- 8-0, 7 finishes.
Almeida -- 20-0, 19 finishes.

This is one of the most interesting fight so far this year. It's similar to when Jones met Bader. Both were promising prospects with undefeated records. Can't wait!
