Anyone else seen this? Now this is what I'm talking about and how Godzilla should be done. Don't try to make the giant lizard as real as possible. Make him look as awesome as possible.

Also, holy eh oh el if this was a the trailer shown on regular TV in Japan.

edit: I used to love Gamera as a kid but the CGI looks atrocious for the most part.

Looks awesome. This is the proof-of-concept trailer shown at New York Comic-Con 2015.

Gamera! Top three kaiju for me. Any word on whether there is a new movie coming?

I like turtles.gif
They announced at NYCC 2015 there was going to be a new movie directed by Katsuhito Ishii but there's no release date yet nor are there any major updates after that proof-of-concept trailer.

Saw this awhile ago, it looks incredible. Hoping it gets made. I'm actually wearing a gamera: Guardian of the universe shirt right now.

So whats the deal with our hero and the binoculars? Is he going to look at the monster to death?

I think they're going bad to the gamera: Friend of children angle

I understand that they used the binoculars to identify the child as the older character, but my question is, why binocular. Binoculars are lame. I would understand if this was a movie about space and the main character was given a telescope by his dad that passed away on a botch space mission.

.

I don't know why the hell America seems to be going through this phase where everything must be as real as possible, but I agree. Not a fan of how everyone is always like "in needs to be in some way based in reality". How about just make the best movie possible and don't limit your creative freedom by trying to be "based in reality".

Of course, I should add this only applies to certain types of films. Other films, it's absolutely critical that it's as much based in reality as possible. But Godzilla, Batman, Superman, etc. are not ones that should worry too much about it.
