Gain muscle-not enough info?

You ever notice that almost ALL data you find on bulking or gaining muscle is directed at hardgainers or people who have a hard time putting on weight? It seems like there is a dispropotionately small amount of info for guys who aren't hardgainers but are trying to put on lean muscle. Anyone else ever notice this?
 
Hmmm...no one else has noticed? Maybe I was right in thinking I was the only non-hardgainer around.

I would say no

The concept is the exact same if your a "hardgainer" or not, all a hardgainer is is someone with a poor diet. Same principle, eat alot of good foods, and lift weights. So if you call eating and lifting a recipe for a hardgainer thats fine but its the same for everyone else too.

Gaining muscle really is not rocket science.
 
Yeah, but if I just a lot of clean food, I would put on a lot of fat. I have great cardio, I work out a lot, but my metabolism just isn't that high.

I can't just eat tons of food and lift a lot, which is the usual muscle gain advice given to hardgainers. For me, its a balancing act between having a calorie surplus and not consuming TOO many calories. Where is the data/info/tips/suggestions about that?

Like I said, I simply CAN'T eat tons of food (even clean food) because I'll put on fat quickly.
 
Slightly OT but I also notice that people equate ectomorphic body types with being a hard gainer. I've seen easy gaining ectomorphs and hard gaining mesomorphs.
 
well that balancing act is going to be key for anyone to gain muscle, even if your a soo called hardgainer you can still eat way too much and put on fat even with a good workout routine.
You may have to just be carefull with your diet and focus on say 500 - 1000 calorie surplus, but i also wonder how much of it is mental as well, i know alot of people who eat superclean one week and feel just ripped, or miss a few days in the gym and feel weak as hell, that could be the case with your bulking.

True, there could be a mental component.
