It's the only thing that makes sense. Now that Conor as reached the top of his division Dana wants to keep Conor the face of the UFC and it's so much easier if you have 12lbs of solid gold around your waist or slung over your shoulder. But all their big plans went out the window when RDA got injured the hope was Conor to take RDA's LW belt then vacate his own never ever having to rematch Aldo or facing Edgar and jumping to the very top @LW them two must have been dreaming money trees pink rainbows & unicorns to think Conor would get past Rafael

Nate Diaz was to be the sacrificial lamb at the alter of Conor, but Nate plays by 209 Stockton Rules and they don't play fair not only does Conor lose but is exposed & undressed badly in questionable cardio & ground game. Now with the milestone UFC 200 around the corner how do you get your biggest cash cow on the card in a exciting fight which he can win and the UFC can pimp and parade to the public?

Talk about being in between a rock & a hard place... You need to make an announcement soon guys need to get their camps & plans in place. McGregor/Diaz 2 is not a headliner and pure bullsh!t @170 I don't believe it happens, but sure interested in how the UFC will spin it if true...

Conors championship isn't being protected it's being overlooked for promotional purposes.

Ultimate Fucking Clownshow

You speak truth, you might sell this sh!t to the casuals or the UFC friendly partners but the hardcore and sports media can see right through this potential rematch that serves no purpose.

No purpose? It serves the ultimate purpose in prizefighting.

Cash money.

If the UFC listened to every idiot here they would have been out of business 10 years ago.

If that's the case then Conor should be defending his belt the Ultimate prize for a fighter, wouldn't you agree?

Conor has never been protected

Love him or hate him there are very few in the game who would accept the short notice matchups he has.Jones wouldnt of done it,Werdum wouldnt of.

Honestly im not a fan of the rematch at 170 its pointless.Or the rematch really. Can conor beat nate ,probably yes.But he sure as hell cant move up in weight and then headhunt people. If you move up ,you better have your movement in check and be evasive

Shouldn't the Championship be the heart of the promotional purpose???
Meh. It was at one point. But the belt changes hands do often the though of this being the pinnacle has be severly diluted

He will. But first they need to cash in the biggest fight possible for the biggest event. They already missed out on the Ronda/Holly rematch. There is no bigger fight they can put on for UFC 200. It's not that complicated. Win or lose he will be defending in the fall.

It would be equitable but right now but the rematch with Nate would muster up the most attention. On a personal level I want to see the Frankie fight only I suspect that will take place around autumn time.

I won't take that away from him he has stepped up, but they also chose Nate Diaz to come off vacation to fight, thinking maybe to catch him napping and not ready 11 day Nate should've gassed and went out like Conor.

Nate rematch isn't even a big fight I don't see it drawing like the first one.

I will say that Conor has a good resume and certainly took matches that he didn't need to, but would you agree with me if I said he benefits more from fighting above 145 while being the 145 champion than he would in the event he lost the belt there and moved up? I think the former is much more marketable.

Nah i think he picked him if he even did, because he values the promotion and name game. And Nate is the biggest star at 155 name value wise. You only have to look at his free card numbers to see thats true when he has headlined he does real well

Oh for sure.He moved up to face Rda for a few reasons. He still has a belt,if he succeeds he is an even bigger star.I firmly believe conor cares 0 about belts. And is literally in it for the big checks.Once he gets enough of them he will walk away.

Now you talking out of both sides of your neck "He will defend" "They need to cash in" there is no bigger fight they can put on". So there rockstar fighter finally gets a belt, and there's no bigger fight that they can put on but a rematch where he tapped out? OK bro...

Okay. I think in that regard, the belt is being protected (although I would personally say it's also a case of being less of a priority as much as being protected) in that it's easier to get more cash from a champion moving up in weight to fight another champion than it is to market a former champion coming off a loss and moving up to fight a contender or champion.

Yes. Nate 2 is a bigger fight than Aldo 2 and Edgar. It's pretty simple. UFC 196 did 1.5 million buys with 10 days of hype. The UFC 200 hype will only help it.

Nate is the biggest name only those truly familiar with mma know Nate or his brother both have records that won't flash lights they're known for their toughness Conor thought he could just outclass Nate that's why he chose him, he was wrong.
