Rumored Fury/Ngganou ppv tanked at the box office

Buster Douglas vs Evander Holyfield did 1 million buys.

This will be used as a talking point by U Fight Cheap but it will be nothing more than that.

The people who are already offering huge money for another Ngannou fight don't give a toss.

Did Holyfield/Douglas do that much? I thought we were still in the closed circuit era then; didn’t think ppv was really much of a thing.

Still made more money than damn near the entire roster combined lol

That tweet is saying 10K. How are you getting the 50K?

That 10k figure is only an estimate for conventional PPV buys. It doesn't factor in any streaming purchases. I don't know where he got 50k from. I'm waiting for the numbers to be finalized.
It was just an educated guess. He Said it was much less than aew ppvs. Aew ppvs are usually between 80-110k

All we can really do is wait and see when the final numbers are published. The promotion for the fight was fantastic but the problem was that on paper it was a giant mismatch. They wanted like $80 for it here in the US. It isn't surprising that it bombed.

According Turki it did 200K on DAZN, which was all countries besides US, UK, Canada and couple of other countries. It undoubtedly bombed in North America. There was no buzz leading up to the fight as everyone thought it was a walk over for Fury. It was also in a different time zone. Not sure how it did in the UK as that is Fury's fanbase and the time difference wasn't that great.

That being said, it doesn't matter. In Saudi they pay upfront and they've already offered him another fight, too. His next fight will now be super hyped. The UFC shills will use this because they desperately want to show other fighters that it's not a viable path outside of the UFC.

i think the marketing team failed here. I forgot the fight was happening until two days before

They put a lot of money into that promo video. Can't remember when it came out though, maybe too late.

Fury isn't a draw in the USA
Francis isn't a name outside the UFC
anyone who was interested thought it was a waste

it likely sold well in the UK and that it because most HW fights with a name sell well

It’s because the card started at like 11 am Pacific time. It would’ve sold more if it was at night time in the states.
