The fight vs. the former top contender in Zombie shouldn’t be sanctioned (lol), no point in a 4th Volk fight, Evloev is not good enough, he wouldn’t do well at 155, etc. I miss the days when people were actually excited to see Holloway fight now since the Volk fights it just seems like he’s a placeholder. This fight vs. Zombie is pretty good on paper. Is there any fight that people actually WANT to see Max in?
 
I'm excited for Zombie simply because I kept believe they hadn't already fought. He should walk through him at this point in their careers, but nostalgia is still real to me dammit.

He needs to move to 155 though. Nobody really wants a 4th Volk fight and nobody wants someone knocking off contenders for Volk. The division isn't right for him anymore and he obviously can't make 135 so 155 it is.

That said, he also needs to actually take the time to move up properly. Every time he's tried he's just done it on short notice or as a next fight instead of a permanent move. You're not going to have proper success trying that. As evidenced by his record being failing his weight cut and getting outsized/powered by Poirier who'd been there for years by that point.

Take 6 months off and do it properly. There's plenty of fun fights there.
 
Sooner or later Holloway will get cracked like Whittaker did but that might take a couple of more fights.
 
Hard to get excited about this mismatch.

Holloway was on Schulz pod this morning (recorded months ago though).

Holloway is asked about his chin and says Andre Fili is the only guy who ever possibly rocked him. And even then he only thinks he was possibly rocked because he remembers looking at the clock instead of Andre and wondering why he wasn't paying attention to his opponent and so just went back to focusing on Andre

You speak for "people" I always enjoy a max Holloway fight and respect everything he has accomplished in the sport

I bet Evloev would have better odds against Max than Zombie does. He is kind of in a weird spot at 145 that if you give him top fresh matchups he kills off contenders, but if you give up anyone else it's an absolute squash. Even at LW Max is sort of underpowered, so it's not a great class for him. He's a top fighter that has fought almost everyone.
 
If Sterling wants to go up to 145 he could fight Max. Or Evloev etc. Just keep Max busy with top 10 guys for the time being, he should be frozen out of the title picture for a while as long as Volk stays champ imo.
 
Huh? Max is must watch, it’s just hard to watch KZ at this point in his career. As a spectator, it’s not a good feeling to feel pity for a fighter a washed up fighter getting his ass kicked. This matchup will be like Volk/KZ, Tony/anyone, Nick/Lawler. Ain’t no one trying to see that shit.

Also, you’re silly if you think Evloev is not good enough to beat Max. He’s good enough to beat anyone in the division.

You must admit, it’s an awkward situation. Even Volk expressed frustration (eg “quit killing off all my contenders, mang!”)

But I’m looking forward to this fight.
 
If only he didn't have pillows for hands he'd be 10× more fun to watch than he is right now. He just doesn't have much on his punches and so you're not on the edge of your seat like when you're watching strikers like O'malley, prime Mcgregor or Poatan.

He's landing at will but you know it's still going to a decision lol.

Max win on points is almost a lock against Zombie for bettors out there lol

Is this coming from sherdog users or just a general sentiment of the larger MMA fan base as a whole?
 
Max deserves a Conor fight and retire young with a big payday. One of, if not my favorite fighter. Love to see him fight and what he brings but would be ok with him retiring before starting to see his downfall.
