Octagon is freaking huge. To have 2 raged men fight against each other in such a large open space doesn't seem like a realistic scenario. So let's forget about UFC and suppose that fights take place in a small place like karaoke booth or pool room.
Masakatsu Funaki recently suggests that in those sutuations, nobody can beat a sumo wrestler who has been training for prowrestling or mma. "There's nothing you can do when rikishi push you against the wall and grab you with over 200 lb grip power."
So if the cage had been 1/3 size of the official octagon, Samoan fatass would have won UFC 1. I'm not sure if I can agree with the imagination of 50 year old Funaki, but I do think JIUJITSU/GRAPPLING work a lot better in the room than in the cage or street.
