Daniel Sarafian, who fights CB Dollaway on Saturday's UFC on FX 7 event, was one of the two fighters in the first ever Bellator fight, on the first ever Bellator card. He fought Gary Padilla, and Daniel lost for the first and so far only time by a finish (TKO). Neither fighter fought in Bellator again. For those of you saying, "who gives a shit?"...fuck you. This is the Fun Fact of the week.
Interesting. i never knew that, although i assume he has evolved as a fighter quite significantly since then
I like Daniel's head movement and smooth transitions between striking and grappling. I would not at all be surprised if he beats Dolloway.
Thank You for posting. I can't wait for some MMA hipster to show up here and say how he saw that fight and wasn't impressed - the first Bellator season wasn't even properly aired on television, was constantly pre-empted by other sports games on whatever channel it was on (I think it was some sports channel in Spanish), and I don't remember if they streamed/posted their fights on their website. It's really a shame that the first few seasons are kind of forgotten; maybe Viacom/Spike can do an "Unleashed"-type show to highlight the more memorable moments, like this:
They started doing this its called Bellator 360 although I haven't seen any episodes where they showcased the early events
Fun fact: Askren finished all 3 of his fights before coming to Bellator, and technically finished his Bellator debut (although the guy didn't tap or pass out, the angle on his neck was terrifying).
