I've visited both these areas earlier this year and I'm considering purchasing a condo. I spent about a week there so I'd like to see if anyone on sherdog is from the area or has any advice. I'm not concerned about employment there because I work from home.
Traffic sucks, if you can get past that, condo commandos, and lack of vegetation, you'll probably enjoy living there. Seeing as how you're from Brooklyn, I don't think that'll be a problem for you lol
I used to live in Ft Lauderdale...very nice by the beach, wonderful sand and huge expansive beaches. Inland is very crowded and has a lot of shady areas. If you have the money to live right on the ocean and don't need to go inland much it's wonderful. The Las Olas area is also pretty nice. It's a pretty old area (as in average population age), don't know if that's a plus for you or not. Boca Raton is terrible unless you like old, rich, east coast d-bags with trophy wives and a sense of entitlement larger than the galaxy. Deerfield Beach is a place I'd look into, as is Delray. I really like West Palm, but it's a little more of a normal town (which is why I like it, may not be your speed).
Used to live in the Ft Lauderdale/Boca Raton area for around 8 yrs. My 2 brothers still live there. I miss the weather and the upstart of a lot of different things. Ft Lauderdale has a lot of different things for whatever taste or style you have.
I'm 25 and single. What's the best place? :icon_twis I was thinking Sunny Isles because of lots of hot russian and brazilian chicks. Ft. Lauderdale seems like there's more to do there but I can drive to South Beach for my hanging out. I was thinking about Boca because you can get a huge house there for 300-400k with a pool and everything but I noticed a lot of them have required golf club memberships that are like 30k a year. (Fuck that) Plus the required house maintenance, etc. It has its benefits though (having your own pool, huge backyard for letting pets run around). I haven't decided if I want a condo or just go for a house right away. Condo would be lower maintenance and have a better resale as well. I'd also be able to rent it out to pay off the taxes on itself and the house I'd be getting in the future.
