Sometimes in a scramble, I achieve a front headlock position with a guillotine type grip. Most of the time I attempt to take the back off of the position, but most people eventually figure it out and stop it.

I was wondering what other options are out there, since I'm mostly lost when I end up in this position.

Thanks in advance.

Guillotine, D'arce, Anaconda, peak out, arm drag, roll over to mount.

There are loads of options from that position. MY advice it make sure your knees aren't on the ground, have a good grip on the chin, and make sure you are putting downward pressure on the neck with your shoulder as you lift the chin, and raise your hips. Excellent control.

Just make sure you aren't just sitting there, you have to be moving, and attacking your opponents balance. A good front headlock will massively increase your submission %

Do you just have the head or do you have a head/arm? since im a new whitebelt, i revert back to my wrestling. What I like to do is snap them down and block their right knee with my right arm while still holding their head and arm with my left arm. A little push and bam, side control. This is if they're on their knees though

Taking the back is just fine, how are you currently doing it? Developing a great back take off front headlock will take you far in jiujitsu.

How are they stopping you from taking the back, circling away as you try to turn?

This might help:

Your question is super broad, it's a bit like "how do I pass the guard?" or "what things can I do from side control?", the front headlock is an entire game of its own.

He was just asking for other options besides taking the back. He wasnt really asking for solutions to problems.

When the question is so general and says he's "totally lost" I don't think "Cross ankle pick, bro" is going to help a lot.

Regular guillotine/high elbow/arm-in/prayer choke
Anaconda
D'arce
3/4 nelson to D'arce/arm triangle/kimura/***. necktie/armbar
armdrag
take the back
peruvian necktie (not a fan)
crucifix

I'm taking the back by using the seatbelt grip. Sometimes my partner can stop my spin by grabbing a single on me. If I'm sprawled out too far, I feel like I can't rotate enough to attempt the seatbelt.

It sounds like you need to practice actually clearing the arm that's blocking you from spinning to the back. If you just try to run around and grab the seat belt, good guys will take you down or snag an underhook and recover guard.

There are several different ways to do this. The wrestling name for this transition is a "go behind." Google that and you can find lots of useful instructional videos.

That's exactly it. I always have trouble clearing their arms. Since I'm not comfortable with head in arm chokes such as anaconda, and Darce, it's not an option yet. I feel like I can't get a guillotine, because they usually tuck their chin in, so I usually spin for the back.

Thanks everybody.
