We all love Dan "the Beast" Severn and recognize him as titan extraordinaire of the early days of our beloved sport, but being a kingsize superfreak in the squared circle doesn't necessarily translate to spoken word grammy nominations. Case in point, Rings Millenium Combine #3, 2000:
Severn is being interviewed by the Japanese media after his grueling decision victory over Andre Kopylov. Of course the interview is conducted in Japanese, a language of which the Beast is wholly unfamiliar. The course of action is obvious: assume the role of "Slow Talking Jones" and elevate your voice into loud broken English like you're explaining quantum theory to a deaf and mental defective. And I quote:
"ULTIMATE FIGHT, ALLLLLLL OTHER COM-PANIES I FIGHT FOR, YES! YOU CAN PUNCH DOWN ON GROUND!!!!!!!!!! COUPLE TIMES, ......KOPYLOV .... WHOLE TIME!!!! STILL TRY LEG LOCK!!! (Severn slaps at his legs to drive the point home). I HOPE,....."DAN SEVERN!!!!" HOPE FIGHT THREE MORE YEAR."
