Froch-Groves II: 1 million ppv buys! More buys than Mayweather?

Wow! Yank PPVs are ridiculously expensive, hail the stream.

Yeah, they really are. Mayweather fights are about 10-20 bucks more than everyone elses as well. Good to keep in mind when comparing his numbers to other fighters.

revenue wise agreed as far as volume of buys its seems at this moment Froch pulled off better numbers plus the 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium made it a bigger event live wise

Mayweather's fight with Maidana was 80 dollars. So it made almost 3x as much per buyer than they did in England and only sold about 50k less buys. They generated much more money.

That's genuinely shocking,i dare say SKY would like to move in that direction but people here would balk at paying that amount .

I am sensitive about this.

You're just a sensitive little fella in general. Boxing really isn't the sport for you.

One fifth of the Pop. and spunks on Floyd. Hmmm..

Actually there are reports that Floyd is interested in fighting Khan at Wembley too, maybe hearing the numbers piqued his interest?

He can't even get into the country (hence his recent cancellation of his upcoming tour) and because of tax issues he wouldn't fight here anyway.

Yeah, the tax and loss of casino site fees combined mean he'd likely earn less for fighting in Wembley. I believe he genuinely would like to fight in the UK just once - given that he's said so for years - but I don't see it happening, due to the reasons I already mentioned.

If it was for me, Mayweather will be poor. The guy plays too safe for me, one of the few fights I saw, was the Canelo fight. I don't recal very well but Canelo got tired in the 8, Floyd connected him good and didn't even attemp to put more hurt on him. Then Canelo got his second wind, and the fight got the usual Mayweather pattern. I couldn't finish watching it. I get it you're the best technical fighter in the world but please try to entertain.

Yeah, our government decided to fuck sportsmen over by changing the tax laws to target them.

The tax probably wouldn't be an issue, there's plenty of loopholes he could exploit to prevent income tax. It's one of the benefits of having his own promotional header/company.

Hatton once had a great line about Mayweather coming to the ring dressed as Russell Crowe (this was his homoerotic gladiator entrance against Baldomir) and ended up fighting like Sheryl Crow. :icon_lol:

Why should he start throwing down? Its his body and head that is on the line, if he can compile a perfect career and not end up punch drunk, should he not?

People say the same for Rigondeaux. Personally, I find it more entertaining watching these guys master boxing than than just bleed toughman and Gatti/Ward stuff.

Because it is a spectator sport. People don't want to see someone who outclass another fighter by a large margin doing the minimum needed for a win.

I can appreciate his skill but I would rather watch PAC fight with his high energy fights, cotto's violence or JMM who actually tries to finish with his counters. Or a fighter where the better, more athletic fighter loses to the tougher, meaner son of a bitch like froch/groves.

Clearly they do though, otherwise PBF's bouts would sell fuck all.

"Sleight of hand? No way. Just a thrilling matchup that was properly hyped. The battle brought a reported 80,000 fans to Wembley Stadium in London What’s more, it’s reportedly earned a million pay-per-view buys. That’s one million buys – far more than Floyd Mayweather likely did for his last fight…and far, far more than Manny Pacquiao did for his."

Froch beating Mayweather in ppv buys?

Pac and May's PPVs were 4 to 6x more expensive.

agreed revenue wise Pac and Floyd are kings of their sport. But for a ppv to do 1mill en England and get 80k live in attendance thats a great feat and how people have mentioned to be the equal volume wise in the States it would take more than 3mill from what I understand.

It's impressive If they have done 1M but not surprising they way they pushed that fight in the UK you couldn't avoid knowing of It or being tempted to buy.

I understand perfectly why he fights like that, I'll fight like that if I had his talent because I hate to get hit in the face. Besides that I think that he is doing good without me watching his fights :icon_chee

I'll just like him to take more risks.

But his recent numbers show people are getting tired of it. Floyd has a lot of things going for him outside of the ring. He is all over TMZ, he has done WWE and DWTS, he sells a fight pretty good with his mouth.

I would say that as great as Floyd is, a lot of his fights are let downs. I really do appreciate his skills but I know most of his fights wont be exciting. I can't even be bothered to pirate most of them, let alone pay 80 for it. Maybe the Maidana fight will change some of this who knows
