Friend Of Mine Has Dropped A Lot Of Weight Without Explanation

    He's never been a big lad but he is very light for his height, back in June he was about 10 stone, but now he's floating around 8 stone and he's eating quite a fair bit, to me it's a bit worrying

    The issue is he doesn't actually recognise it and isn't really bothered, not sure if I am seeing it and over exaggerating as a friend or whether something is wrong, thoughts?

    We perceive how people eat differently than how they usually eat. Everyone has that skinny friend who seems to eat everything in site, but that's not how it works. If this guy has lost 28 pounds (from a starting point of an already narrow 140 pounds), he can't possibly be eating as much as the OP suggests.

    I am going to be optimistic and say...

    He found some hobby that he is obsessed and secretive about. I lost shit tons of weight when I became obsessed with a particular video game for a while. I couldn't think about food or anything but the video game. It consumed my thoughts and attention.

    My food intake came from fruit juices or something in that nature and this game consumed me until I finished it from the 3 classes.

    Tell him to get his thyroid checked. When your thyroid goes bad it can cause sudden and pronounced weight loss even without a change in appetite. If this isn't dealt with it can kill you.

    He does drugs and doesn't eat while not around you. He only hangs out with you after doing drugs and hes eating a lot because he hasn't eaten in awhile. Trust me I know. His indifference also suggests drug use
