Anybody use one? any good? i do not have anywhere to hang a bag so i thought this would be ideal.

I got a BOB from Centry on ebay for $100. I like it. Great for targeting and stuff. Some people complain about breaking the base, but I don't see how you can if you're using it properly.
Depending on the surface you're using it on it could be loud and/or move around. Should be fine if you're using it on carpet though.
Some people like them. Some don't. I like mine. Just something satisfying about digging in for that liver shot, and a CroCop kick to the head.

Nope no expereince with one.. But honestly i wouldnt spend any money on more home equipment.
I think alot of people buy home equipment because they think since it will be at home they will train more and be better. What it nromaly results in is another piece of crap to collect dust.

Take the money you were going to invest in this piece of garbage and go to some standup classes with a real instructor in a martial art you want to learn.

I already train 3 times a week at a class. I use weights at home on a regular basis and wanted the bag for warm up and to practice stand up technique.

I have one but the central stand that holds the torso/head has become loose..Its still ok to use but i have to take it gentle.
I dont think these things are meant for full power training.

We have one at my gym.. I hit it when i am walking by for fun. But other tahn that it just collects dust. I could see it being good for targeting. But i dunno. I only see the karate instructor use it when teaching kids stuff. Other that that it is just there.
The base is made of plastic, the material the man is made of is real soft..almost fleshy. If you dont have a bag at home adn like you said you cant hang anything.. it might be worth it.

I must agree on the comments regarding BOB as being a great dust collector for most people.
My brother (who particiapates in no martial arts training, unless you count the art of drinking liquor) has one that sits in a corner acting as a fearsome, pink rubber limbless bodyguard.
I have demanded on several occasions that he allow me to take possession of it on principle, but he won't budge.

That being said, the BOB can be a great tool for simulating a greater sense of realism in targeting and striking another person. I would recommend looking for one on ebay as the above poster did, since they can be quite expensive.
Oh, and this may be obvious, but make sure to wear gloves when hitting, since the rubber surface can tear bare hands apart.

I would advise against using Ebay as the shipping will offset and savings. I got the base with the Century Wavemaster top half and the BOB for something like $110USD. The base will move around a bit if you put it on carpeting but who does that? Don't leave it outside in the sun either as the base will deteriorate quickly. But otherwise it's a great striking bag especially if you can't or don't want to hang a bag from the rafters.

i bought one of them to go into my loft..but it wouldnt fit due to the bottom bit. so my dad took it into work and welded like a new base for it out of metel. so the hole thing is metel exept for the part u punch...so its all good :)

When I moved into my new apartment I was not able to hang my heavy bag. I found a wavemaster on craigslist and found a BOB top on ebay. I have to say that free-standing bags are a vastly inferior to a hanging bag and even though I paid 150 in total, I still feel ripped off.

The only real use for BOB is in-fighting/dirty boxing. The wavemaster is ok to practice standup, however, after ~5 kicks, I need to move it back to the center of the room. Also, if you are over 6" you will be punching level or down the entire time.

Hopefully after 5 years they have made a choice.
