I've had this regular Wavemaster heavybag for sometime and I'm looking for some tips and tricks to make 'er better. I have a pseudo-gym down in my garage with concrete flooring, in which my Wavemaster resides. I also have a 40lbs bag that is not in use, because it's just too light and I broke the eye bolt it hung from.

Here are some problems that I'm wishing to rectify until I can get a banana bag (if you're selling one, let me know):

1. IT'S NO BANANA BAG. I can't do punch/leg kick combos, because the striking portion is only about 3' long. Does anyone have a good idea to add more striking area?

2. DAMN THING SLIDES ALL OVER THE GARAGE. Everytime I hit the bag it moves about 2 inches. This leaves me to either roll it out of the way or punch it back to wear I need it. How can I get it to stay in one place?

3. IT MAY BE TOO LIGHT. When I get to rocking this thing it will actually lift off of the ground a bit, which aids in problem #2. What can I put in there that is heavier than water?

If you have any other ideas for my gym...I'm all ears.

Thanks,

John

What do you mean the striking portion is only about 3 inches long? I don't get it?

You can strike the bag anywhere you want to strike it, no?

You should be able to increase the weight by filling the base with sand instead of water. Check the instructions or with Century first to make sure it's okay and won't void any warrantee you might have left.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is much you can do to increase the striking area

The larger XXL model is not too bad, but I think everyone on this forum agrees that a true hanging heavy bag is the best bet.

hahaha... 3' = Three feet.

yeah, I'll try that. I bought this 2nd hand, so there is not warranty. I'll go out and get some sand. I'd like to find the XXL model from someone, but I won't hold my breath.

well... you could experiment with Ringside's freestanding bags.

www.ringside.com

look under punching/speed bags - speciality bags and accessories/hangers. There is a free standing heavy bag on a spring and a frame to hold a heavy bag.

I don't think you could really hit the spring bag too hard, and the frame (assuming it doesn't move) is expensive and doesn't have 360 degree hitting area.

I do have the cobra bag, it was a gift. it's pretty fun and challenging but i rarely use it.
