Fighter Warehouse with the help of Spider Guard, has put this information together for those customers who has questions regarding their flex cups.

Knuckle Test with Spider Guard
The technology is designed to protect against a blow or a strike..due to the flexible design. You will of course feel a light wrap of the knuckles, the problem is this does NOT mirror a real blow or strike. When you take a real blow or strike, the cup will ABSORB the energy across the whole cup. As an FYI, if you got punched with a hard cup from the side, it would NOT protect you. It is a matter of physics, not opinion. A hard shell cup cannot protect one from the side, its impossible. The cup moves into the user.

Knuckle Test with HARD cup
On a HARD shell cup, when you use the "knuckle test", it feels OK because you don't feel the tap of the knuckle. Unfortunately when you take a blow to the groin, it may protect you (on a direct hit from the front only) but more often drives INTO the user. This is why so many fighters drop to their knees with a kick. Also, thousands of athletes rupture testicles or suffer major trauma from a cup crushing against the body.
