Freddie was one of the bravest Fighters anyone could have ever seen, and that was his downfall. His greatest attribute and biggest weakness at the same time. His trainer was the Legendary Eddie Futch, arguably the best trainer in the History of the Sport all-around, just an honest guy who could mold a Fighter into a machine of skill and precision. Freddie always said his problem was he could do everything Eddie told him to do, but once he got hit he went to War, abandoning technique and defense out of sheer desire to hurt the other guy.
However, he has a unique ability to look at the Sport and see every last nuance, and to be able to articulate them and communicate to Fighters what they need to do and why they need to do it. That, and having understudied Futch, is what makes him the trainer he is. But rest-assured he knows what it's like to be in there, and was skilled for what he was, which was as solid a Journeyman as he could be. Kind of the Evan Tanner of his day. He could be beaten, but it was going to hurt.
