here are 2 amazing documentaries about Francis' life before going to the UFC.

these really give some great insight about his life and the struggles he had to overcome to get where he is at today.

after watching those I will definitely root for him for life.

I've seen these Videos and while I do agree that they're amazing(Mixed Molly has made great content about other people as well) it only makes it that more baffling that someone that came from his beginnings became so DAMN arrogant that on the cusp of solidifying himself by becoming Champion that he blew it by not training and thinking he had it in the bag without really putting in the work.

Kinda disappointing honestly, and while he still stands a chance to KILL Stipe, if a similar performance gets put on him again by Stipe, he'll be up there as one of the BIGGEST flops in my opinion. He can kill anyone in a given second inside those 2 rounds, but hopefully he's patched up the other glaring holes in his game(Probably hasn't)

I'm suspect of his fight IQ/lack of roundedness as well. On the other hand, he's found his one trick that *really* works, so it can be hard to not rely and that. Still, I'd like him more if he shows that he can do anything well other than one-punch KO.

dude you must only love perfection then !!

cause obviously he fucked up but no way near done !!

i thought it was odd he bounced on a flight out of no where. and i was disappointed too on his loss but to call him a flop is just disrespect

hope everyone knows he has been training with DC and his cardio has improved drastically since his last go at the champ

and to be judged on whether he patched holes is another perfection or nothing standard implicated by you.

be a fan bro not such a guy who only likes undefeated fighters or someone who has never made a "mistake" . you are missing out big time on the love for the sport !!

Makes it a lot easier to overcome certain things when you're born with genetic gifts. Any of those could've done the same if not more if we had his genetics...
Today you learned: There's alot of dudes in west Africa with the same genetic gifts. Not just Francis.

Sometimes when success comes quickly, it's easy to get arrogant. Not baffling at all. Happens to the hardest workers out there. Happened alot in history where a person from rough upbringings found success and became different. Just take a humbling or two to come back down on earth.

Ali got humbled by Frazier for example...

Bro where the hell are you pulling all this stuff from because this is ONE helluva Strawman you're attacking. Not once did I imply I like perfection, I simply stated that I was disappointed about hearing that he didn't take training for Miocic seriously, and how he neglected to address the threat of Stipe's grappling AT ALL during the training camp for the biggest fight in his career.

I like Francis, I was even fortunate enough to get a picture with him during 217's Fan Expo in New York at MSG, I thought he was poised for Stardom like everyone else, but he dropped the ball hard.

Yeah did you see that interview with his former coach? Didn't expect that all but he seems to be telling the truth... Im just hoping Francis learned from his ego check.

That's the thing that surprises me, I can understand letting it get to his head, but not too THAT extent. Like no training grappling AT ALL? When you're going against a Champion who has that tool in his back pocket and has used it? It's like he fell in love with this Idea that Stipe was only going to strike with him(WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN DUMB AS FUCK) and he paid for it.

The moment Stipe thinks it's a good idea to stand and bang with Francis in the 2nd fight is the second he gets his head taken CLEAN off and rightfully so. Stipe's gonna bring his wrestling shoes again, and hopefully Francis prepared for it THE RIGHT way this time. I like Francis, don't get me wrong.

Francis has been working on his wrestling/grappling and take down defense since their first fight. I think he's going to do a lot better than the last time they fought. Who wins we will see.

If I had his genetic gifts, I’d be a dead beat on some white woman’s couch somewhere. When people ask me about being unemployed, I’d pretend like I don’t understand the culture. It’s for the best that I’m a low class manlet stuck in his 9-5 rut with genes so poor they strangled my aspirations in life.

How could you question this guy's work ethic, you've barely seen him train..

Compared to Stipe who has been boxing and wrestling since his teens, Francis didn't start training till his late twenties.. that considered he's a relatively polished fighter with some good skills.

He tends to charge down his opponents as it works for him, but his boxing form actually looks respectable..

There's a line from one of the many articles about him that flourished before the first Stipe fight, something like how his rapid rise in the ranks didn't seem so extraordinary fast to him because it felt destined to happen. If indeed his mindset was that it was his destiny to succeed...a destiny that pulled him through all those trials and tribulations from his humble beginnings to the cusp of a world championship...I can imagine that he could start thinking that destiny would insure the result regardless of how hard or how little he trained.

cant teach an old dog new tricks, he's the exact same fighter.

To be clear, he does not train with Daniel Cormier. He as DC, Dewey Cooper, as a striking coach, his head coach is Eric Nicksick at Xtreme couture and his S&C coach is Kyle Larimer at UFC PI.

Yea...I think Stipe still would have won... but ditching training and going on vaca. Head not in the right place, something was up, etc. One of the odder things I've heard honestly.

So your coaches dont train you ?

Read this slowly and carefully, don't overestimate your cognitive capacities:

Ngannou does not train with Daniel Cormier.

Daniel Cormier is not a coach of Ngannou.

Ngannou has a coach named Dewey Cooper.

Dewey Cooper initials are DC. D for Dewey and C for Cooper.

Dewey Cooper is not Daniel Cormier.

sorry but i seen some clips of them in the gym.

whether you want to nitpick how frequently or not is up to you.

But DC recently said he is helping Ngannou prepare for Stipe

Source?
I can tell you, if this happened, it was once and a long time ago. Ngannou spends his time in Vegas between Xtreme couture and the UFC PI. He does not train with DC and never had him as a coach.
