Francis Ngannou Doesn't Use Supplements... Is The Science Behind Them Weak?

If you were an MMA fighter, would you take supplements?

Francis stopped taking them and look where he is now.

A lot of people outside MMA think supplements are glorified placebos with little if any proven benefit. Meanwhile MMA fighters keep getting in trouble for "tainted supplements." If they don't help much or at all, as in the case of Francis, why take them?

Are there any respected scientific studies proving the value of supplements (used by MMA fighters)? Or is it mostly bro science and myths pushed by fake experts trying to make a buck?

I would imagine working in an african sand mine is a better S&C program that the ones from the crossfit bros the fighters use.

I don’t use supplements either and I’m pretty muscular for my size.

I’m 6 feet tall weigh 205 and lean as a willow wand so just muscle packed on. Lean.

The ones that work are not allowed. There is a reason for that.

Although beta alanine works well for muscle fatigue during the gym as do BCAAs

I would be taking so much shit I may change species

I don't take anything because it makes me feel manlier being a natty beast + can't bang 10's if I'm roid-crying over a shriveled pecker.
Leave that for the manlets.

Francis was probably 230lbs at 8 percent body fat when he was homeless. He's a freak. To the question, I think most supplements give you a slight edge and that's it.

He looked leaner and more shredded than ever against JDS. Nothing that can’t be achieved naturally without dieting and more cardio but most importantly his A+ genes.

I don’t doubt that he doesn’t even take OTC supplements. I believe he’s in the 1% of the clean genetic freaks.

He’s lost a lot of bulk and looks more natty compared to his earlier days ...not saying he wasn’t clean before but if he was then I’m certain he still is now.

I would be taking sups like they were mike and Ike candy, i be gobbling them up.

Yes I have. Which is why I say that.
Im not an elite athlete by any means but i found no difference except being more farty
My experience is very similar with protein powder and now BCAA’s. I’ve been taking the BCAA’s for about 6 months so far. I don’t notice any difference.

Supplements are meant to supplement an already good protocol, not replace it. They might give another 5% on recovery or endurance. But they're not going to make a human shit stain an elite athlete.
