This is one that everyone references when talking about his JJ tourney issues.
Was this actually bad ? he hurt him for sure but didn't hold on longer

No. If pierce didn't tap and got fucked up, it's on him.
People aren't complaining because it's dangerous, we're complaining because there's multiple times Palhares held on to a dangerous submission.
You mean like sobral?

Like BJ over Pulver? How about strikes like Rampage landing a couple more shots on Wanderlie when the ref was actually holding him? I didn't see any talk of banning them. So it's all about Palharis's past and people were just waiting and watching so they could have something new to bitch and whine about. That's what MMA fandom has become, a major whine-fest.

I loved his fight last night
I never saw a fighter in such pain
It's the refs job to stop that sub
Not the fighter
Hope he comes back soon
He's also one of the very few guys who commits to those leg lock subs and is expert at them. Other guys make halfhearted attempts but Palharis locks them up extremely fast.
If the submission is so damned dangerous they should ban it's use. I think the UFC doesn't want to be seen as making more rules for the sport because the idea it's like a real fight is what sells it. Instead they ban the one guy who knows how to use these submissions effectively.
If they were really worried about fighter safety they'd be penalizing guys for landing crushing blows on obviously defenseless opponents too. Instead they cheer that. It's hypocritical.
I mean, I didn't know about that other 2 times in the past...
