@raphamarinho from Combate/SporTV reporting that UFC signed CES MMA bantamweight champion Andre Ewell (13-4), he will be making his UFC debut in São Paulo, Brazil, on 22th September.

His opponent, former bantamweight champion Renan Barao, is 2-6 in his last 8 fights. Barao's last win was against the now retired Philippe Nover (next Anderson Silva?), since then he lost to Brian Kelleher and Aljamain Sterling.

Barao has fallen so far. He was considered one of the goats and is now likely fighting for his contract. It’s sad

Barao reduced to taking on new comers. Crazy how fast that shit can happen.

For some reason I thought Renan’s reign was a lot longer but I just had a look over his record and it was less than 2 years. Defended the title 3x, Was definitely a good fighter but he was also hyped to the max

This is the boxing equivalent of a former champ doing a 6 round fight. Renan has fallen but i think he is gonna take this one. Saw Ewell fight in CES and he is exciting but many holes in the game.

    Life comes at you fast.

I like Ewell, watched him win on AXS a couple times this year, and he D'Arced some dude a couple months ago in that awesome CES promotion. Glad to see him get his shot, but it sucksssss that it has to be Barao greeting him at the door.

I always thought that Barao was another case of a dude who hit the big time right as his prime was fading.

Even though he was beating some pretty serious cans during his first 25-30 fights, I'm sure he's body has gone through a lot of wear and tear through the period. Who knows what he'd be looking like if he got to the UFC a little earlier.

Looking at that FN 137 card in Sao Paulo, who the hell headlines?

    Here's the card so far:
    Ketlen Vieira vs Tonya Evinger
Belal Muhammed vs Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos
    Sam Alvey vs Little Nog
    Thales Leites vs Hector Lombard
    Alex Oliveira vs Neil Magny
Antonio Carlos Junior vs Elias Theodorou
    Barao vs Ewell
    Luis Henrique vs Mark Godbeer
Alex Chambers vs Livia Renata Souza
    Evan Dunham vs Francisco Trinaldo
    Ben Saunders vs Sergio Moraes

So it needs a good main and co-main and it'd be fine. I'm guessing Alvey/Little Nog or Magny/Oliveira will be the co-main though.

I literally did not even know he was still fighting? Talk about a guy that fell off the map after just a couple of losses.

TJ Beat him twice, and it was like his career just ended. I didn’t even know he was still fighting.

Was shocked to see Lombard's name on the card. 40 years old and has lost 5 straight fights (hasn't won a fight in over four years).
