He dead.
R.I.P.
He had a stroke a few days ago apparently and died as a result of that.

He was appointed by Richard Nixon, a Republican, and thereafter became a flaming liberal nut job. He often opposed individuals' exercise of Constitutional rights, and supported expansion of government bureaucracy. After he retired from the bench, he made a bunch of outrageous far-Left political proclamations. Among other things, he called for repealing the Second Amendment. He also condemned SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh based on zero evidence.

But he's dead now, so I guess we can be more circumspect about his legacy. The lesson is to always vet your SCOTUS nominees, and when you're done vetting them, vet them again. You can't risk appointing another John Paul Stevens. The stakes are too high.
But I'm very sad he died. We will always remember what he did. Good luck on the other side.
