I find it hard to believe that using ones forearm while standing can be effective, but watching one of the many highlight clips from PRIDE that are floating around the net, i saw Semmy Schilt use one to take down his opponent (it might have been Masaaki Satake, PRIDE 17 or Yoshihiro Takayama, PRIDE 18) with a forearm strike. At least thats how it looked from the angle i saw.

I know that using your forearm when G&P-ing someone can work, but has anyone tried it or found any success using it standing?

Yep, forearms are useful for a bit of 'dirty boxing'.

I usually drop 1 or 2 then pin my opponent against the ropes with my forearm, while laying in a few body blows.

Just good for ruffling a few feathers

Its banned in pride so...however forearm shots are usefull when legal, and you coul use em as a kinda grappling move in a grappling tourney as long as the judge can't see a diffrence from it being a strike and a grappling move, its a thin line but I'ld walk it
