Forbes Highest Paid Athlete List 2023: No mma fighter makes the list

BILLIONS of people watch football. And the money comes from TV deals. Because NO ONE watches high level, club football for free. I thought you subscribed to BT Sport?

And you're wondering why MMA fighters don't compare? Jesus christ. I'll leave you to it. I hope you're trolling.

Billions of people watch football all over the world, correct.

How many games are there, though, each weekend to take those eyeballs?

Hardly one or two!

Whether you agree with me or disagree with me, the only thing troll-level here is your utter dismissiveness. No football match on Earth is watched by all football fans - yet an elite UFC PPV main event is almost certainly going to get the attention of the bulk of MMA's viewership.

I watch BT Sport, but haven't watched a non-English game live or on TV this season. I doubt I'm alone in that. It won't even be unusual.

Yeah it's a different sport entirely, but there are bunch of those differences that negate the 'but billions watch football' argument.

well, you're clearly not doing enough then man. you could be doing way more and deep down, you know it too. purchase more PPVs, by some fight kits, and perhaps purchase (2) PPVs and gift one to a person more in need than yourself. Don't be selfish and help out Endeavor any way you can. Come on.

LOL, yes.

That's the problem, Endeavour is a money pit for MMA fans and the fighters get next to nothing out of all that money tossed in by MMA fans.

not with that attitude. you need to spend way more man, and make sure it trickles down. if you're not posting these responses in your CM Punk Fight Kit, then do you even want to a supporter of a fucking fighter? The answer, is clearly no.

I'm sat here in my Sage Northcutt kit, I was told he's the future.

This is entirely false.

World Cup, Euro Cup and Champions League late game matches are all very much in the center of the attention of someone who follows football.

UFC are basically holding 1 big fight per year or so and those fights arent even comparable to any big sports big games.

Soccer players get paid the equivalent of fuck all for international matches, though?

Many players donate their international 'earnings' directly to charity.

Club football is where they get their money, not the World Cup.

False in many ways.

Football-players get good payment, good bonuses for being in national team, great bonuses for winning the league or league-cups like cl,
and after all this they get payed by adidas/nike depending who pays them so to speak.

Someone like Messi who have become a god-like figure in his nation Argentina would be able to earn more money from that then for example LeBron ever could earn from playing basketball. It is not because LeBron is not as talented. It is because in the global perspective, Football is the only one sport. No one follows basketball for example if we are going generally. No one at all cares for NBA-teams as they do for big Football-clubs. On a overall global level.

https://talksport.com/football/1237...n short, yes they do,match for France in 2018.

The FA paid £2,500 for every match a player started at the 2014 World Cup, with the rest of the unused squad pocketing £1,500.

Four years later in Russia, England stood to win £5million in bonuses if they lifted the World Cup – £215,000 per man – on top of the £29m prize money they would have collected outright.

I've never heard of a bonus for playing for an international team before? From the club, I mean? Clubs have frequently actively attempted to stop players playing international games?

I'm not sure you're right, unless you've read something I've never seen before?

I'll obviously accept the caveat that players playing internationally get the indirect bonus of extra marketability, and therefore more lucrative sponsorships, if that's what you meant? If so, apologies for misreading your post.

This is why i came into this discussion:

"No football match on Earth is watched by all football fans"

That statement is misleading if you are comparing it with MMA. Sure there are single fights that can become big but they ain't even comparable to a singular WC-game or Euro-finals, or CL.

Ok, the 10th guy on list is Giannis Antetokounmpo at a little over $80 million. So, who in the UFC do you think should've made more than $80 million last year to have been on the list?

I apologise for my arrogant writing in this thread. I love basketball for example and it was my favourite sport for like 10 years and i was really into it.

I just sometimes think it is fun that USA often seems to want to be the center and top of stuff and i find it funny how far behind they are in the worlds biggest sport.

USA is really nice though indeed but i just find this a bit funny.

To the topic i meant that players get large bonuses for example competing in world cup, especially if you finish in the top or even better win the whole thing.

Just googled and found this about Argentina bonus from WC 2022: "In Argentina, which won the 2022 World Cup, each player will be paid a bonus of 1.3 million euros. In this move of the Argentine Football Federation, a cash prize of approximately 41 million euros to be given to the world champion by FIFA will also be used."

Then there often is personal bonuses if a player scores a certain amount of goals etc, in club-football i know this is the case and i assume its similiar in international football especially at the succesfull nations.

Who in the world is Giannis Antetowhatever?

Genuinely never heard of him.
