We have to remember that Justin Eilers recieved a title shot against Andrei Arlovski.. after losing to Paul Buentello in 2005.

Yeah, that was 12 years ago...things are suppose to evolve/improve.

who gives a shit about the depth of HW. it is the king of divisions.

You mean the same year Cro Cop fought Fedor in Pride?

This was of course at a point where the UFC had a very shallow pool of talent at HW, only really Sylvia and Arlovski when it came to elite talent and the latter had just beaten the former. Barnett had gone to Japan, Mir was out long term after the bike crash, Randy was at LHW, Rizzo was in Pride and Ricco had been dropped.

It's thin but there's still matches to be made, and that's the confusing thing to me when the division has been so shallow for so long now.

Too few fighters and too few fights. At least Ngannou is shaking things up a bit.

When you look at prospects inside and outside the UFC, aging vets, and match ups I'd say that at this point the lhw div. is weaker than the hw div.

LHW and HW divisions are nothing but old guys that should be retired.
One of those fighters you showed in the OP is still considered top 10 today, twelve years later.

That's like Matt Hughes still being top 10.
