    Khabib: 31
    GSP: 39

    8 years difference

    Jones: 30
    Cormier: 38

    8 year difference

I don't remember any DC fans making preemptive excuses that DC is too old.

Why are GSP fans scared shitless?

39 is very old for a non-heavyweight fighter. Anyone arguing the contrary is an idiot.

    Its alot different actually.

DC started his career late, and overachieved early and kept right on truckin.

GSP already has had his long career at elite level and since 2013 has had one fight,on top of his age.

He did lose, but the narrative was never "he was too old"

For a start DC has been active all the time and has never gotten rusty, Apart from the fight with Bisping GSP has been retired for over 7 years...
I mean im fine with the fight personally and have no favorite in it, its certainly a better alternative than the pointless Conor rematch at least.

Well Khabib is a much better fighter than Jones but I have faith in the GOAT to become the first three division champ

You don’t remember because you didn’t watch MMA or frequent these forums back then. It was discussed ad nauseam on here. DC started his MMA career late. His run, especially at HW, has benefited from fighting guys who were mostly shopworn in Barnett, Nelson, Mir etc.

Not only that, but you’re comparing an active fighter to a guy who’s fought one time in 7 years, who’ll be 40 in a division lighter than he’s ever competed. This thread isn’t worth further explanation.

Khabibs entire country is banned from participating Olympics. Maybe he is the only clean athelete in the history of that whole country but I wouldnt bet my house on it.

    1. Inactivity
    2. First time going down to 155 ever, DC had 2 warmup fights
    3. DC had some fat to shed while GSP was lean at WW so he'd have to lose some muscle

Jon Jones is simply a better fighter. He’s a cheating scumbag, but he’s pretty clearly the best MMA fighter we’ve ever seen. Cormier’s loss wasn’t an age thing. That notwithstanding, Cormier’s late start in MMA has been thoroughly discussed, before and after the Jones fights.

GSP is one of the most well rounded fighters of all time, and possibly the best MMA wrestler we’ve seen to date, but his inactivity doesn’t bode well at his age. I don’t think anyone here outside of the Russian Throaters think Khabib’s one dimensional style, albeit extremely effective, would pose much of a problem for a younger GSP. The GSP that fought Koscheck or Alves would dominate Khabib standing and possibly out grapple him. His age is more relevant because we simply haven’t seen him fight and he’s been on the sidelines.

I don’t want to linger on Khabib/Tibau, but the fact remains that’s one of the very few big strong guys he’s fought. 155 is fairly bleak as far as good wrestlers. I reckon GSP would have done just fine if he we’re 28-30, and maybe he will now. Let’s wait and see.

Some people (Not you) act like being 40 is an excuse for decline. They’ll learn.
