For these who are still hanging onto Jones blaming him for not taking the fight

Jones should have just retired after the Stipe fight if that was the case instead of wasting everyones time
This is my issue as well. The fact that he sat around for 7 months holding up the division and playing games. If he had just gone ahead and retired after the Stipe fight, that would have been the best thing for all involved. Dana and the UFC are to blame as well for allowing this to happen and continuing to act like the Aspinal fight was going to happen.

Nah Aspinall would have beaten Jon Jones at the peak of his MMA craftsmanship. Jon took 0 damage in the Gane fight and 0 damage in the Miocic fight. Dude was tearing dude up at HW. He has at least had 2 more in him. Losing his undefeated record and passing the torch was never on Jon’s menu. He is legit scared of Aspinall for some reason.

What do you want? The man is 38 years old and is pushing 40. He is outside of his prime. What do you want him to make a conference of himself admitting to father time hitting him, his knees are gone and that he is washed? that is just ridiculous.

He made an interview recently where he said he has not trained MMA since the Miocic fight this was basically him saying I am washed currently and honestly he looked that way he was uncoordinated and out of shape. As good as Jon was he is way past his prime and if Aspinall had beaten him it wouldn´t have done him anythiing as people would have only said you beat a way past his prime Jones.

Despite being one of the best fighters of all times his only a human and he is past his prime, washed, father time and old man call it whatever you want but his best days are behind him period.

Let the man ride into the sunset peacefully

I would have if he didn't waste our time since the Gane fight

This doesn't make it ok
He's still an arsehole and we're glad the sham champion is gone

A few sad gimps will try and run defence on his shitty behaviour, but in HW terms he's a nobody who will quickly be forgotten once the next title fight happens

His HW run is less relevant than DCs for example

LHW goat, HW pussy who we are glad has gone. His GFL level wins don't resonate at HW. Will only be remembered at HW for making a mockery of the division for 2 years
You didn't address my point. What did Jones cause Aspinall to miss? At most a single fight with Gane or Almeida which will happen anyway? A pointless rematch? The biggest problem is the lack of competition at HW.

in 7 months every chance Tom could have defended twice by now.

It's not OK Jon cost the sport, cost the fans, cost Tom that.

I'll tell you what we wanted:

We wanted Jon Jones to vacate the title 7 months ago when he made up his mind that he wasn't going to fight Tom Aspinall. That's it. Do what GSP did and just vacate the title when you had no intent to fight the interim champion.

Jon can't undo the damage he's done to his career and there is no sunset for him. He's a cunt, everyone can see he's a cunt, he just got into another car accident, wearing no pants, drunk, and fled the scene again.

Jon's only destiny in retirement in prison, and you're a literal piece of human waste for supporting him.
Still a straight up mark that will tell everything but the truth that Tom’s named value gained tremendously because of how Jones and the UFC handled the situation. A dishonest fraudulent mark. Time to find a new villain Marky

Twice? Who was the last HW champ who defended their belt twice in 7 months?

The thread title is a mess. Got a bloody nose just trying to read that mess out loud.

Stipe had just turned 42. He was younger than Couture was as a HW champ. I agree he was shot, but there wasn't that much of an age gap, and Jones has fought more times in his career than than Stipe has.
Stipe had been effectively retired for years after his last loss, returning to full time work as a firefighter.

Yup..

As per my new policy that went into effect about an hour ago..

“Any lying, lowlife fans of Jones get an instant IGNORE”.

Bye.

nobody blames him so much for retiring. It was more to do with him hogging the belt, stringing along the entire world that he was gonna fight again. It was only relatively recent when he started saying he's not training n giving other hints that he's retired. Before that he was saying stuff like " i need 6 months to train" and if dana is to believed he accepted the fight, then changed his mind.

Had he retired right after the stipe fight he wouldn't be getting this flak. The flak he is getting is deserved (okay maybe a little bit of flak for elder abuse on stipe instead of fighting the rightful contender but as much flak as this)

Aspinall does things lesser men cannot and will not

You think when he bangs out Gane in the first round he won't be ready to go again in under 6 months.

Bingo. And inarguable

He had every opportunity to retire gracefully.

He chose not to do that.

He was motivated to fight 7 months ago but not now?

What changed? The scary ass opponent vs the retired old man.

He's terrified of Aspinall. That's all. He'd have retired 7 months ago if he just didn't wanna fight any more
No, I absolutely agree with you that Jon acknowledges the threat that Tom would be if matched up against him, but Jon isn't motivated enough to fight. Usually a challenge excited Jon, but now a days he feels that he has nothing left to prove anymore, so fighting a dangerous guy like Tom while not being motivated will potentially fuck up Jon's legacy.

Look at BJ Penn. When motivated, one of the baddest ever. Same with Rampage Jackson. Jon took the easy fight against Miocic but Tom is a threat, & while not being motivated enough since he feels he has nothing to prove he isn't going to take a fight that can hurt his legacy especially right at the tail end of it.

fans never cared about aspinall or his career, They just want to see jones lose. Doesn't matter who it is they will put ALL of their faith behind that person. I don't think tom aspinall has a fan in the world, only jones haters.

Stipe is one of the best to ever do it at his weight class, So I can see why beating him means something to jones, even though it may not mean anything to us. These last few fights were for jones personal Goals... They did not effect his standing in mma at all.

If he wasn't planning to fight Aspinall then he should have vacated the title quickly after the Stipe fight, like GSP after Bisping, instead of holding up the division. That is the main issue that most rational people have with the situation. Why is that so hard for Jones fans to understand?
