For girls who have good genes, will deadlifts make their backs too big?
I am helping this girl get into strength training. Her concern is that she doesn't want to have her upperbody get too big (lower body is fine). Normally, even if a guy would ask me this question, I would just scoff at them. However, this girl seems to have very good genetics. She already seems naturally muscular; she currently concerned that her upperbody is already kinda too bulky (I don't think so :icon_chee).
Our current plan is to go hard on hip and leg movements. And the deadlift is essentially a hip movement, but it also does wonders for the whole back because the back responds very well to isometric work. Thus giving the deadlift the title 'kind of the back exercises'.
So would a person need to do back movements (rows, pullups) in order to develop back growth. Or would deadlifts alone stimulate back growth in someone with good genes.
