Alright...So this is a question I've been asking myself after the NY Open...but now that I got my Blue Belt this weekend, it's actually real. During the competition I noticed parts of my game that were lazy on bottom that definitely needed work (pummeling for underhooks, keeping forehead engaged in half/quarter guard, etc.).
What should I focus on from a general perspective? I pushed myself during the latter part of my white belt on getting into open guards that I knew might not be comfortable now or ever, but knew it'd be helpful in my development in the art. I come from an above-average wrestling background and my top game (while never perfect) is pretty good from a pressure perspective?
Sweeps from these open guard positions and passing from these hybrid-open guard positions? Suggestions?
Thanks!
