He's also very cognizant of the fact that MMA fighters are paid peanuts compared to the revenue that they bring in. Why not fraternize with the best MMA guys? It's good business practice.

Lmao no. GSP is and has been for the past few years. Much of Dana's marketing is to try and make Anderson appear as some sort of superstar. It's why the p4p list was always, unquestionably dominated by him and any attempt at refuting that was seen as blasphemous. Silva without strong headlining opposition (ie. Sonnen, Vitor) does not sell well (Okami 2 was like 300k). GSP sold 700k with Dan fucking Hardy and 800k with Koscheck2 after a terrible TUF season.

The reason GSP isn't really marketed as the "best fighter ever" is because he doesn't need to be. GSP sells himself, people watch to see GSP. People watched Anderson to see "the greatest fighter of all time" (joe Rogan voice). Now that he lost, expect Silva's ppv buys to plummet. He doesn't have much else to sell.

GSP makes several million a fight all said and done. Silva isn't that far behind but he's not paid higher than GSP (despite what Dana tries to claim)
