Floor mats for grappling

I was looking at the zebra puzzle floor mats. Good coverage per square, great thickness and wonderful price. The owner of our local martial arts supply store ( the only one and opened 3 days ago), said that they are like cheese graters to the back and face. I say that anything beats carpet and has anyone any thoughts on these mats or a good set of puzzle mats?

I ordered 1500 sf of the Zebra Tatme mats and 1400 sf of the Zebra puzzle mats and the finish on them in nowhere near as rough as they used to be. The puzzle is a little slicker then I would have liked but they are geat mats. I think the guy in your town is talking about the Tatame mats, they can do cause mat burns but they are still my favorite mat to grapple on. As they get worn in, they get a lot better.
