Float like a butterfly OR hit like a truck...a better way to throw hands!!

Dont worry.... even if a flatfoot power-punching stance became popular
That would be great for boxers safety but wearing headgear or bigger gloves might be a better way to reduce punches damage.

Cro cop is one of the best examples of the flat base foot strike style

In contrast to cro cops deeply rooted flat foot kicking style his opponent Remy bonjasky is a dedicated Tippy Toe kicker and often looses his balance

Did you notice the non traditional base foot posture of the athletes??

Did you further take note that these are some of the hardest hitters with the best TDD in MMA?

The traditional toe pivot of boxing is NOT the best way to throw hands in the cage

Keep your feet flat on the floor when you strike

Every now and then your heel will pop up but you should strive for flat feet....like a wrestler

People glue martial arts together to create MMA and often a few bad habits persist

You have a point in that pushing off with the foot is part of a wider "chain of events" that increases reach and propels your COG foward as you punch

However it also adds a flex point in the "chain" that absorbs shock

The human leg is a phenomenal shock absorber Design By Nature to absorb impact and is the final link in the chain that braces your frame to the ground

A jumping punch will never be as powerful as a punch delivered from a deeply rooted flat-footed stance

when you throw a punch from anything but a deeply rooted flat-footed stance you're relying more on speed and momentum that you are on weight transfer

weight transfer is that unique feel of the heavy puncher

Some athletes punches feel much heavier than others even though they may be of similar weight and strength

Try to learn to hit the heavybag with your rear foot well planted

When you get comfortable with the technique you will find that you can impart much more weight to your strike with less physical effort and less chance of counter because your balance is so much better as your COG is resting comfortably not tipping out forward in a falling motion as you miss

I tip out all the time because its the only way to REACH my target but then i regret it because even tho i landed a blow i am off balance and they can hit me very hard

Looks like he plays the videos on youtube,
takes photographs of the screen,
gets them printed,
faxes them to his brother-in-law who his good with computers,
his brother-in-law scans the faxed pictures,
and send him the .jpg by email,
and he can finally post them.

That's the only logical explanation.

yeah because you cant throw a "proper" cross unless you pivot on your rear foot ball for hip rotation

LOL

Historicly trainers have advocated for athletes to stay in a flat footed/ deeply rooted stance (ESPECIALLY as they throw straight punches)

only in modern times has there been a push to get fighters to perform up on the balls of their feet

I believe this was largely attributed to the sucess of one man as Throngs of emulators tried to copy his style

Having first been exposed to Asian martial arts (not american VERSIONS in stripmalls) and wrestling I was always taught to keep my feet flat on the ground
Mas Oyama was considered the absolute pinnicale of striking skills and growing up in Hawaii his style of karate was considered the epitome

Years later as a young adult I was introduced to the sport of boxing and found it odd that many trainers taught their athletes to "stay on their toes" (balls of feet)
The boxing gym I attended had a few regional and world champions and I was lucky enough to be in the ring with them from time to time

I staunchly refused to fight on the balls of my feet instead preferring to stay flat footed throughout most of my exchanges

I had a great time working out with those guys and I really enjoyed the opportunity to discuss the different styles of footwork associated with the sport of boxing

I firmly believe that the flat-footed stance is superior especially as it relates to the Cross transfer of striking skills to MMA

Remember wrestlers and Grapplers are taught to stay flat on their feet

in this video one can clearly hear Larry Merchant (one of the greatest boxing analysts of all time) say that the best striking is done from The flat-footed Stance

The flat foot cross demonstrated by yet another of boxings greatest athletes

Cut the BS, it was an off balance uppercut.
That's how Ngannou throw a right hand.

ACTUALLY it was a near perfect form uppercut [rear foot well planted]

*notice that Arlovski could NOT get up where as blaydes DID !!

Thats because the flat rear foot hits HARDER!!!

Arlofski was pushing in and that forced Ngannau onto his FLAT REAR FOOT

THUS

the strike hit FAR harder than that sloppy tipping speed only cross that FAILED to put blaydes out!

many mistakenly believe that you hit harder when moving backwards because your opponent is coming INTO your strikes and that is a small factor...

HOWEVER

the actual reason you hit HARDER going backwards is because you have most of your weight on your REAR foot and that massively increases your punching power with near zero extra "muscular" effort
