International Flight crash from India to UK with 242 people on board, only one survivor walks free

I really want to see some kind of scientific breakdown on how that one guy survived.

He apparently had a window seat, so I can only guess that he got blown out the side, or fell out when the plane initially started to break apart. That is insane.

I'd honestly start to think that I was invincible if that happened to me. Reminds me of a 9/11 survivor story, where the dude fell like a hundred floors, and somehow woke up on some rubble with a broken leg.

Anyways, Boeing again? These guys need to be seriously investigated.

I have only been on a plane when i was like 2 years old, and don't remember it at all. I never wanted to go on a plane since. So i am going to need to know what seat this guy was in so i can request it if i ever have to fly in a plane.

No shit. I remember a plane crash back in the 80s where a young girl was the sole survivor with minor injuries.
Reminds me of that m knight shamaylan movie Unbreakable

I read early on that there was an issue with the wings?

It's pretty clear in the video that they didn't have their flaps down.. trying to takeoff a fully loaded 788 without flaps is suicide.

Pilot error.

Air India is pretty bad. They don't even take care of the inside of the plane.

Honestly when the vid of him walking away came out I called bullshit. No way he survived that but I think it he would have been exposed by now so I can only thing ‘god damn!!!’. Looking at the footage of the crash and the devastation on the ground it’s insane to think someone survived.

11A. Very few will be able to afford that seat for the foreseeable future

Damn fucken scary. You never know when it's your time. This could've happened to anyone.

Rest in peace to the victim and condolences to those deeply affected by this.

That´s nothing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesna_Vulović

Fell from 33.000 feet and survived

It's still remarkably safe by the numbers, you could die in a car every day. Of course, I think being behind the wheel would feel better. The only thing that makes nervous about flying is that I get older I trust safety checks less and less. It would suck to die cause some guy just pencil-whipped a checklist because he wanted to get to lunch.

Why am I surprised that (if even) you've never left the country?

This was an 11 year old 787, 787s haven’t had any notable issues until this one, and Boeings cheapening on manufacturing quality began in the past decade

This was a prime aircraft. I’d airplane issue and not pilot or catastrophic engine (GE I believe) I’d more be interested in the maintenance records

Very different than the 737 maxes falling out of the sky after rolling off a assembly line just a year ago

I dunno man, I'm not a lightning striking twice type of guy, if anything I'd think that seat is on the "nope someone already miracles that one"

Posted this in the Mayberry version of this topic. Quote for those that aren't interested in clicking the link.
Thai pop star James Ruangsak survived a 1998 plane crash. Twenty-seven years later, an Indian man in the same seat walked away from another wreck

I'm curious if anyone has posted images of the exact area where he was found yet.
