What workouts do you guys recommend for improving flexibility? Right now I find myself flexible enough to roll with the other beginners, but I cant help but think I can get much better.

And a side question, I have a friend who is doublejointed or something crazy in his shoulders, he can roll his arms so far back that they are almost perpendicular to his shoulders, how much if any does that benefit you when rolling?

i have really flexible arms, but my legs are horrible. i can't even middlekick.

so yeah, i'd like to hear about some kickass exercises aswell.

The Mastering the rubber guard has some good stretches in there to improve flexibility. But your traditional stretches you’d do anywhere else all help too.

I've seen MA specific stretching routines by guys like Matt Furey and Bill Wallace before, but quite honestly there are so many yoga studios and classes around today that your best bet is to drop into one of those for a few weeks and either stay there or incorporate what you learn into your stretching routine.

I recommend the book 'Stretching Scientifically: A Guide to Flexability Training' by Thomas Kurz.

Great good. I own the 1st edition and now it's on the 4th edition, can't vouch for the recent ones but the first one was great and i can only assume it's gotten better.

It includes lots of theory into various stretching methods (dynamic, isometric, passive, static, etc) and includes a variety of stretching routines.

Thomas Kurz is a qualified pro on the subject, rather than some Matt Furey type jackass. He was taught in eastern europe. The eastern europeans and ex-soviet countries really take their athletic training seriously.
