FIVE Grappling announces first ever North American Invitational Championship + more!

February 22nd-California 1

March 29th-Las Vegas

Toronto and Chicago will be in June or July

Remainder of dates to be announced soon

I'll do Vegas probably. Do podium winners get any assistance with travel to Miami?

COME TO DENVER! Please, we need more high quality tournaments, and we pull a lot of people. Almost all 6 million people in CO live within an hour drive of downtown Denver, and folks always come up from NM and WY as well for our local tournaments. The local promoter only does 3-4 BJJ tourneys a year, we need more than 1 per quarter.

There's almost a dozen BJJ practitioners in Wyoming now, which is a boom for the area lol.

I wish Five would go back to Utah, they had their first tourney there. I am surprised there isn't a Denver Open, it's a great destination city for pretty much all seasons. (even if airport location sucks)

The airport is way the hell out on the high plains desert, but at least it's a hub so it's pretty easy to get cheap flights on Southwest or United from almost anywhere.

TBH I think we get more people from South Dakota than Wyoming.

Ice 9 Cobra, no assistance can be given at this time. However, our goal is to attract non endemic sponsors to come into our sport and help with things like that in the future. We are working very hard towards our goal. But remember, theres not a lot of tournaments in North America, in this sport, that have such a qualification process. If you compete in the main bjj tournament series open events, it does not qualify you for anything to compete at that leagues "world" championship, or even nationals.

Please post the dates of the other qualifiers here when you get them. I along with others from my gym will most likely do the one in Portland.

DC and Denver could use some love.

So glad to see qualifiers though, it actually legitimizes the winners of a National Championship.

No problems Riccardo, was just curious. I hope you get support here in Vegas.

Our plan for 2014 is 10 events that would be qualifiers. Than, next year we would add more events. Trust me, the goal is to do things right for the sport. Thanks so much for the support everyone. Please check us out on facebook.com/fivegrappling as well as Twitter and Instagram @fivegrappling
more news to come!

Its good you guys are coming to phx. We have some of the best grapplers in AZ.

This is a great thing you're doing here with actually having to qualify for the national championships, but why no heel hooks in the expert divisions? :( I just can't support the banning of that and twisters.

Is there a reason you went with Miami as the location for the National championships verses a more central location like Atlanta or Chicago?

I'm really excited to see Five roll out their series for 2014. I genuinely think this will be a game changer for sport jiu jitsu. If you want to know more about Five check out one of my interviews with their fearless leaders...

Interview with Silver Fox regarding Five's rule set and what sets them apart from the rest. This is bit older and some changes have been made but overall it's still relevant

Definitely DC. The DC metro area has to be one of the 5 biggest American metropolitan areas for BJJ (possibly 3rd after LA and NYC). There are close to a dozen BJJ schools within 15 miles of DC.
