I think Khabib will be in for a tough fight if it really is McGregor and Lobov. Not too many men willing to take that fight, but Khabib has now proven he is in fact, that man.

I've seen Russian media mentioned that officially UFC will announce this event in February. Also they mentioned some official statement from UFC, like they often pre-book places for events all around the world to give fans UFC experience.
And from what I understand that's some sort of early pre-booking made by UFC - they will need to select exact date for the event and confirm it (like sign some papers with guys from Olimpiyskiy Stadium).

Besides Volkov,Lobov and soon probably petr yan I don't know much russian UFC fighters, not coming from the caucasus region.

From what I've seen people wrote that in December at ACB event in Moscow guy from Moscow, Vartanyan was booed while Abdulvakhabov from Chechnya was supported by crowd.
About popularity I don't know I think broadcast of European or Asian UFC event in Russia was tape delayed because of some tennis/biathlon/some other sport tournament.
Also I've seen comment - like people wants a real UFC event, not a card filled with ex-Fight Nights/ex-ACB fighters. I think I've seen here or on twitter same about Japan - people said that Japanese want a UFC event with international fighters, stars, they don't wanna see another fight of Japanese guy who fought all (or big part of his career) in Japan.
And why you are asking about Chechens, there is like 4 of them in UFC and maybe only Bibulatov is still ranked?

If its against a foreign fighter they'll support them

This is about showing outsiders that they arent even on the region as a whole's level

Ive seen russians supports irish and scottish football clubs...but i doubt that will carry over here

I think Volkov, Arlovski, Oleynik, Cirkunov even Tybura. Tybura was a champ in M-1 so people know him and I think he said that Russians like him and support him (and of course he himself said that he likes Russia and Russians). It's if event is gonna be UFN event. PPV event in Russia or first UFC event in Russia as a PPV - not the smartest idea, I think.
