I liked Kuvianianineianian's first fight against Justin Salas. Either I was really stoned or it was a compelling match up. I remeber thinkin how HUGE Anton was, similar build to GSP.
Pretty good stand up from what I remember and while his ground game wasn't great vs Salas, it looked much improved vs Mitch Clarke. That may be due to Clarke hurting his ACL in the fight though. It's an even match up and I think Kuivanen has a good chance of pulling it off. That's also a pretty good site for information on European MMA. Has an article about Reza Madadi turning down a fight with Paul Sass that I'm surprised hasn't been posted here yet.
He is very good and explosive striker. Insanely athletic and strong for a 155 pounder. Kind of like Guillard, and the grappling is sadly on the same level too. Guillard might even have better grappling and thats says alot. He is huge too.
No he didnt. Like i said he has pretty good tdd becouse he is strong guy, but with submissions and with guys who who can take him down he is in trouble.
Yeah I was about to say; Clarke is primarily known for his ability on the ground and Anton Kuivanen did very well there. Again, I know Clarke hurt his ACL in that fight but it was a really good performance by Kuivanen against a tough grappler.
How good is Chiesa's wrestling (takedowns)? Kuivanen had some trouble with Salas but he's 2x All-American IIRC. Against Clarke he did pretty well in grappling. This is Kuivanen's toughest fight so far and if he loses convincingly there's a good chance he gets cut since he's 1-1.
Just watch Kuivanen's fight Thiago Meller (19-5). He is really hard to submit even if you catch him with something. Also Clarke had Kuivanen in a very solid armbar but didn't get the tap.
