Alright you grumpy old F12ers. I didn't see this one talked about yet. So lets here all the excuses as to why this isn't something new and inovative. Explain to me who was using this years and years ago and how there is nothing new to be learned or invented in grappling!!!!!

*edit* sorry if it has already been gone over, i looked and didn't see anything.

Can you describe what it is? I can't watch YT at work

me neither, so I'm breaking out the iphone to use the company's open wifi!

brb

Going right handed, right leg over the guys shoulder, across the shoulder blades, like a triangle setup. Right hand grabbing underhook in front of other guy's left shoulder (right forearm in same spot as a bulldog choke). Stretch your leg, tightening the choke.

hmm. looks like a peruvian necktie mixed with a triangle?

Very slick choke,

For those who cannot see it; Campuzano tried to fall into Pace's guard, and Pace threw his leg over Campuzano's shoulder and pulled it down across his neck. Pace then proceeded to feed his arm underneath his leg, and Campuzano's chin and grabbed his foot. Finally he fed his hand through and got a 'Gable grip' over top of his shin with the other hand to finish the choke.

That sounds like the choke Nick Pace did at the last TUF finale. Similar thing? Not quite?

I guess I'll just watch the video tonight when I get home

He is attempting a triangle with his right leg over the shoulders/head, left hand on the ankle.... but his own left leg is trapped inside. Meaning the opponents right knee is outside the left leg so he can't connect the figure 4 with the legs.

but he has the guys posture broke all the way down. He then swims his right arm under the neck all the way accross and grabs his own shin with it. Kinda like you would an armless triangle and grabs his own ankle.

So now he has both hands on the ankle with his right arm under chin. Im guessing it was a "soup choke" and not a blood choke but im not sure.

He then used both his hands and pulled his leg up, pulling his arm thru even deeper, kinda like Mir likes to do with the guilotine choke.

The opponent jumps to his right out of the "half guard"/trapped leg but by that time its to late.

The begining was kinda like you would shoot for a darce but instead of clasping his bicep he grabs his ankle. At first i think he is just trying to hold the guy down until he can clear his left leg to finish the triangle, but then he gable grips his own ankle, sinches his elbows in and pulls the choking arm thru even deeper.

To satisfy your request...

grumpy f12er here to help...

it is a neat choke, but it is not new and it has been done for years and years.

I remember Cerrone trying this choke the Pace version repeatedly a couple years back, maybe in teh first Varner fight... I specifically remember it because the commentator kept saying he needed to use his other hand for RG...

here is an entire thread about the exact same choke attempt from Cerrone from 2 years ago: http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f12/cerrones-rubber-high-guard-908314/ Brian McLaughlin in the thread calls it "rubber guillotine." someone else called it a leg brabo... I still think it is a no-arm triangle variant

Here is a video of it being pulled of in comp by some other guy: YouTube - Karl Nemeth (HVJJ) No Gi Rubber Guillotine

triangle variant:
here is video instructional: YouTube - Triangle Choke(Armless)

So in the spirit of f12: A) it is not new; B) it is very low percentage

You happy? You happy now?

Wow, that's a pretty awesome choke. Haven't seen that before.

Yup, thats it. I looked on the first 3 pages and didn't see a thread on it.

Pretty interested and kinda "think on the fly". I think his opponent felt like he was o.k. and thats why he didn't pass to side earlier.......

It was funny listening to Joe Rogan go "OHHHH!! Wow, that's interesting! I've never seen that before!!"

Yeah, I like listening to Joe Rogan when it comes to grappling. Maybe not the 10th Planet references, but I like that he follows grappling. To see him go, "Wow, that's interesting!" is awesome because I know he's genuinely interested.

Yeah, sounds like Mir was the same way in the WEC when Cerroni tried something similiar. From the thread that Redaxe posted sounds like Mir was like "i want to talk to him to find out if he was just trying to hold him down to set something else up or if he was indeed trying to finish".

Love that type of stuff from announcers, guys who are truelly interested and fans.

Is a no-arm triangle expect Pace couldn't triangle his legs because one was trapped under his opponent. Locking your legs isn't what finishes the choke, it helps prevent the escape.
