What's a good beginners telescope? I'm interested in getting one because the skies here are good for it.

Depends what you want to do. Planets? Astrophotography? A mix of planets and deep sky?

There are a few cheap ones that are decent without auto tracking for under $400. Although auto tracking is nice to have and you need it for pics. Auto tracking mounts add a bit to the price. How much do you want to spend?
