Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced and David Jonsson will star in the upcoming horror story.Audiences are one step closer to returning to the world of the Alienfranchise, as production has wrapped on the latest feature from said series. It's been more than five years since the last time the xenomorphs were seen on the big screen, and expectations are high surrounding this new horror tale featuring some of the most iconic movie monsters in history. Fede Álvarez was behind the camera for the new adventure, while plot details regarding the project he has been working on for the past couple of years are being safely kept under wraps. Even if the premise for the movie hasn't been revealed yet, some of its cast members are already confirmed to star. The film is set work as a standalone installment, meaning that it won't be connected to the narrative Ridley Scott had been establishing with the prequel movies during the last decade. The strategy might work when it comes to attracting new audiences to the franchise that has been around for over four decades. Trapped in deep space without any resources to escape, characters from earlier entries have done their best to survive the claws of the xenomorphs.

Problem is IMHO that Fede Alvares is one of those "modern horror auteurs" who actually just recycles the same style endlessly, I'm guessing this will be a return to the simple style of the original but in a much less classy slasher form.

Won't be.
I don't get the obsession with dragging out movie 'franchises' in some sort of belief that just because the original one or two were great, that anything else can be bled from it.
Literally, the last time an Alien series movie was good, was in the 1980s. And they have tried over and over again since then and produced nothing but average generic shite. With the only thing going for any of them, was fan service. On their own merits, nothing memorable whatsoever. Much like terminator and many other regurgitated steaming shit piles.

totally agree with this. Maybe they should wait another ten or fifteen years from now and start something fresh?

Promotheus came out in 2012

it’s okay, you didn’t watch Promotheus. just say so, bud

You're a fanboy then. Thought so.
Yes I did watch it btw. Michael Fassbender as droid turned head, decapitated by a big white muscle guy, hot french bird, needed an emergency op by futuristic machine to remove a you know what, ended half way through movie and made us wait for an even worse sequel.

Yay.

So, fanboy did you like AvP as well.........

*Edit, just looked, she's Swedish. French was a guess but you get the picture.

Again really I think the problem is that the original Alien is a perfect example of why horror in the late 60's to the early 90's was often so good, you have a great director at the height of his powers doing a horror film, a film that looks amazing with quality production design filmed with real panache plus a great cast who give very naturalistic performances.

Fede Alvares is just not a director of Ridley Scott's, Kurbrick's, Friedkin's, Carpenter's, Polanski's or Alan Parker's class, he can make decent generic jump scare films but doesn't have much character of his own, same as almost every other director of mainstream Hollywood horror films.
