saw the movie and it was obvious that they used some kind of arnis/escrima/kali form, just dont know which 1 they used
thanks

I recall reading some sort of "behind-the-scenes" thingie and was under the impression it was straight-up Kali (knife and empty-hand). Though I could be wrong.

Between The Hunted and the "Bourne" movies with Matt Damon, I think Kali is beginning to generate a bit more interest as the current "it" martial art for movies as it is at once a very all-business/no-bullshit fighting style which is style cool as hell to watch onscreen.

They way fucking overdid it at the end in the hunted though..

There's good stuff on the DVD about Sayoc Kali, how they train military/LE, and how they choreographed the fight scenes.

one of the few good knife fighting movies out there.

anyone know of any other knife fighting movies?

They even mentioned that in the special features. They said a real knife fight with guys of this level would be over in a few seconds, but they had to make it longer

On a side note, I did some Kali, as it's a part of most JKD classes, and really enjoyed it..

thanks i have the tape now ill need to buy the dvd for the behined the scenes information

Side note: living in Portland, OR while they were shooting THE HUNTED was a nightmare 'cause they would shut down one or two bridges for shooting. The crew was not making friends with the public at large...

In the Bourne movies Matt Damon trained in Pekiti Tirsia Kali, the lineage currently held by Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje. I've been training it for about a year and love it; it's really great for learning better body mechanics, both in terms of generating power yourself and reading your opponent. that and fighting with sticks and knives is damn fun.

Thats very true. I'm a brown belt in modern arnis and its a very fast martial art with fights lasting only seconds. The founder of modern arnis Remmy Pressas is a stick fighting legend. He fought in the highest ranked tournements and never lost. And his longest stick fight was just 7 seconds long.

I own the knife from the movie. It's the most baddest ass thing I've ever blown a wad of cash on. Run a search on the Tom Brown Tracker.
