Who has seen a fighter come on the scene and think, this guy may be the next big thing? Maybe it was their performance, potential star power etc. Either way, they had something that other fighters didn't have. I'll start...

My pick for the next big thing who I was wrong about was Erick Silva
My pick for the next big thing who I was right about was Henry Cedujo

My new pics for the next big things are Brian Ortega and Israel Adesanya.

    Name yours.

I thought Jordan Mein and Brandon Thatch would be fighting for the belt at some point.

I thought Lawler was shot and Koscheck would squash him. I've never been happier to be wrong!

I knew that Max would reach the top, just hope he can stay there now.

I've called Conor to lose every fight after Brimage but he's proven me wrong every time except for Nate 1.

Wrong: I truly believed Paulo Filho would become the greatest MW in the history of the sport.
Right: I picked Weidman to defeat Anderson and be champ for a while, albeit I thought it would come by submission.

Jon Jones: When he manhandled Vladimir "The Janitor" Matyushenko, I knew he could be the LHW Champion.

Cody Garbrandt: I thought he'd starch Tj, both times.

My picks for the next big thing right now is Zabit.

    I already consider Ortega big.

I was right about Gastelum, Hollowa, Tony, Conor etc.

I thought Todd Duffee would be on his 5th HW title defense by now.

I was 100% right about Jon Jones, Conor, and Khabib. The first time I saw all three fight I knew they'd be champs.

I was dead wrong about Rustam Khabilov, Uriah Hall, Will Brooks.....

Who was that Czech wrestling champ that came on strong in the UFC and then fizzled quickly?

    That guy

Look at what USADA did to this guy.

    They ruined the HW division.

Wow, give him some time... he's still a very green young prospect with his best years in front of him. You still may be right on this one.

My pick for who I was wrong about: Brandon Thatch
My pick for who I was right about: I made a poll on I think it was Ironlife and posted a bunch of his fights asking 1.Future Champ 2.He'll be near it but never be a top fighter 3.He's ok but won't ever be anything special 4.He sucks ...3 was by far the most picked on the poll ..I was really high on him and made the poll right after he smoked a bunch of guys and then UFC vet Derrick Noble. It was Eddie Alvarez.

I could do a million of these.Another big one is I always said Overeem would do good in the UFC but never be champ and when he's not fighting cans his heart and chin are evident but everyone seemed to ignore that while he was killing guys that weren't on his level.

I'm the type where i'll never say someone will be champion, but I just say I think they could be around the top.On Tapology I made a thread and posted a bunch of Zabit Magomedsharipov fights well before he was in the UFC saying keep an eye on this guy,so he's been on my radar for a while.I'm better at saying I don't think a certain fighter is or will be as great as people think than how good I think an up and comer will be because I always (or usually) keep my expectations low while simply being excited simply to see how their careers unfold.

I watched UFC 1 when it happened and was sure Royce was going to get killed and as a wrestler at the time I thought Ken Shamrock was going win or Gerard Gordeau after that first fight where he almost killed the 50 First Dates guy.I was a big fan of Randy Couture and was hoping he'd win but I was sure Vitor was going to kill him at UFC 12.

I remember we had a party for the UFC ppv as we usually did for UFC 47 and this absolute destroyer named Robbie Lawler was fighting this Jiu Jitsu kid and during the interviews the Jiu Jitsu kid was like,i'm going to stand up with this guy and knock him out.We all burst out laughing like omg this kid is going to get killed.I was a fan of Nick Diaz after that fight.

It's the main thing I love about mma, super unpredictable and were all wrong all the time.
